Hi! this may be long but I was wondering if any other moms have gone through this so I'll just cut to the chase... April 28th I was 5 weeks preg and miscarried, so my doctor gave the "something may have been wrong with the baby" speech. but...after hormone testing she said that I have PCOS so she put me on clomid along with glucophage. but I had never had issues with having a period each month before the m/c just that they were very hard ones. so since the m/c I've so many problems starting a period! My doctor put me on Provera to force a period for two months in a row and this is the first month that I've not taken it. but, It has been 43 days since my last period and I have taken p/g test but it came out negative! and I dont see my doctor until Oct 1st so Im just wondering if any moms out there have had this problem?? Its becoming increasingly frustrating to know that your not p/g but yet can no longer have a cycle on your own...any suggestions???

What can I do next?

This is just my opinion...

I would give all the drugs a break and see if your body can get back on its' normal cycle (you said you didn't have a problem getting your period before the miscarriage).

How sure are you that you have PCOS? Have you researched the symptoms or are you just going on your doctor's suggestion? Are you seeing a general OBGYN or a fertility specialist?

I don't have PCOS but I did suffer a miscarriage along with trouble concieving. I'm very sorry for your loss. It was a very tough experience for me. After our loss, we started to see a fertility specialist who was amazing. I would highly suggest seeing one if it is an option.

Do you feel like your doctor may be jumping to conclusions and putting you on too many drugs? It seems so unnatural to me to go that long w/o a period, but yet your periods used to be normal??? You've already had one healthy baby so that's a really good sign that your body knows how to get pregnant and stay pregnant.

I can imagine how frustrating this must be for you. I wish you lots of luck!

I am afraid of taking drugs in general. I feel that they they just treat symptoms and may cause more problems that are worse. I would do research on natural ways to regulate or go see a naturopathic doctor.

I have PCOS. Definitely took a long time to conceive our first as I was only having periods about 4 times per year. Sounds like the Provera and clomid plan is typical. I would just make sure that they are giving you blood tests to see how your body responds to clomid, my body didn't response to clomid at all and that was confirmed by a blood test. If you cycles continue to be long while on clomid I would start to wonder if clomid is actually working for you at all. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!

Miscarriages are more common than people think. I would do what was already suggested and give all the drugs a break to see what your body does since you weren't having any problems previously...or get another opinion in the least. Good luck!

First of all, I am sorry for your loss. Hang in there.

I agree too with stopping all the medicine. I don't know that it is doing you any good.

I too was diagnosed with PCOS by three different doctors. Two of them wanted to put me on birth control. I really didn't want to go on birth control which angered two of my doctors. Then I read a book by Dr. David Brownstein (He's a local holistic doctor in Farmington Hills, check him out at www.centerforholisticmedicine.com)about natural remedies and issues that can be caused by the thyroid - one of which is PCOS. As it turns out not only did I have PCOS but I also had an underactive thyroid. The holistic doctor was the third one to confirm the PCOS and thyroid issues. Within a few months of being on Armour Thyroid, which is a natural thyroid medicine, I got pregnant and carried the baby to term. It was very important to stay on my thyroid medicine even while I was pregnant.

I'm not trying to say that you have a thyroid problem. All I know is that after I read the book by Dr. Brownstein, I felt that taking medicine such as glucophage and birth control were not the answer for me.
