Keurig Vs. Mr Coffee K-cup Compatible

Does anyone own a Mr. Coffee for Kcups? My brother was going to get one for his wife, and wanted to get your feedback on it. Keurigs are so fancy, and my sister-in-law just wants something “simple”. Would a Mr. Coffee kcup work okay or would you recommend a more basic version of the Keurig?

What can I do next?

I do not know anything about Mr. Coffee

As for Keurig, we were going to get a simple one because we just drink coffee in the morning. However, after talking to a few people, we decided to get a better one that has a bigger water reservoir.

We are very pleased with our purchase. We got the Keurig Platinum and love it. It is super simple to use. I would recommend to anyone to step it up a couple of notches and get something better instead of going cheaper.

We got ours at Costco for $149.99 and it came with 60 K cups. I've seen it no lower than $179.99 at Kohl's, Target and Penney's and their versions only come with an extra 12 K-cups.

My local grocer has good deals on K-cups and I keep a variety on hand. I think the most I paid for a package of 12 K-cups was about $9 not on sale. We prefer the Starbucks Breakfast blend and medium blend coffee and enjoy tasting the others every now and then.

I think your SIL would like the Platinum Keurig. You do not have to constantly refill the water reservoir and when it gets low, the light blinks to remind you. It is not that fancy other than you can choose what cup size you want to drink.

No matter which brand he goes with... make sure to always use filtered water.

ETA: Kudos to you Christy Lee... You did get a good deal!!

I haven't had a Mr. Coffee for Keurig, but I do own a Keurig. I bought their top of the line home model back in 2008 and just recently replaced it because the pump was acting up. I replaced it with the same model. Almost 7 years isn't bad for a coffeemaker.

Not sure how long the Mr. Coffee will last, but I can tell you that the Keurig is excellent quality and worth the money.

ETA: Oh! I should have added this: We got our Keurig Platinum from Kohl's for $89. It was on sale for $159, we had a 30% of coupon, and then we had $30 in Kohl's Cash. A great deal! :-)

We have a "fancier" Keurig. We bought ours from Costco. Worth every penny!
It gets turned on in the morning and gets turned off before bed!
It gets used for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, hot water for oatmeal. The entire family uses it. You don't have to use the kcups, you can just use it for hot water and a tea bag in your cup. There is a reuable cup that you can put your own ground coffee in.
I love it because I can have my cup of caffeinated coffee in the morning and a cup of decaf later if I want it and a cup of herbal tea at night, all without having to keep heating up a kettle of water.
My husband uses it all day. He likes to put several ice cubes in his cup and brew right over them to make iced tea or iced coffee.
The kids put water right in their bowl when making instant oatmeal for breakfast.
I also love love love how many flavors you can get and have in one day! We have so many flavors of coffees. I could literally go days without having the same flavor twice. Everyone's getting into the K-cup business. Target has their own brand (Archer Farm or something like that), even Trader Joes had K-cups the last time we got groceries. Amazon has fantastic sales on K-cups and Costco carries a handful of flavors at very good prices.
I would splurge on a better one. It really is worth it!

I have the Mr. Coffee and it worked great for a few months. Lately though when we set it for 10 oz, we're lucky if we get 4 oz to come out. We got it last year at Christmas time and are going to replace it with a Keurig, probably the one from Costco, which is available at other locations, but is cheapest at Costco. Ours didn't start giving us trouble until we started using it everyday. Once my husband started working from home is when it started having problems. Spend the extra money and get the Keurig Mini Elite which at most places is $99.

After Christmas last year I gave in. I have a Mr. Coffee that was put out by Keurig. At the time it was $99 but I got it for $79. It's been a great coffee supplement to my French Press when I don't have the time for it, or even the time and inclination for a full pot of regular coffee.

I have been researching these for weeks and I second everything that TF Plano said. The one they sell at Costco, the K75, got the best ratings by users, and IMO is the best value for the money even if you pay full price. And not only does it come with 60 cups instead of the normal 12, it also has the reusable filter with it. Plus they had a sale so I got it for $129.00. I feel like I practically stole the thing. Buying everything separately would have cost $218.00 and that is calculating 48 cups at only .50 cents each. I had to buy the $55.00 membership and I STILL saved money. And for what it's worth, the Mr Coffee is a Keurig product. At least they sell them on the Keurig site so I assume that it is.

A basic Keurig is not fancy!!! You pour water in it, choose your K Cup, put it in the dispenser and pull down the lever and your coffee starts brewing. I think I got mine last year at Kohls for around $75.
