Ideas for Cheap "Dates" with Husband

With two children, I have vowed this year to focus on some quality time just with my husband. Does anyone have any suggestions of things we can do with out a large expense? We are looking for something beyond dinner but that does not require a long commitment either since our schedules change.

My husband & I often take a trip to the city and just walk around. Neither one of us are big shoppers, but always seem to have fun walking around window shopping, maybe stopping in somewhere for a drink. Sometimes we go up to the bar in the Hancock building. It's about 10 bucks for a drink but it beats paying admission for the obsv. deck plus you get a drink and a wonderful view of the city! Beautiful sunsets too!

In downtown Plainfield there is a store called Wine & Cheese by TCC. They offer FREE wine and cheese tastings. You can't get any more reasonable than free.

I am a consultant for a company called Once Upon A Family. One of the products is called "Date Night Deck" - it is really cute, just a deck of cards with date suggestions for couples. Some are things you can do at home after the kids go to bed and others do require you to go out. They are fun ideas and things we probably wouldn't think of on our own.

Presently they are out of stock but I do have a set here at home. If you are interested check out my website or email me. I will be more than happy to assist you.

When our daughter goes to bed, we order take out and choose a pay per view movie. One week it is my turn, the other week it is his. the rule is no complaining and we have to dress like we are on a date.

Although we took our 1yo son with us, if you're into antiquing, head over to St Charles & then grab a bite to eat at one of many good restaurants.

Sign up on websites that offer coupons. Brunswick has coupons that make bowling really cheap. I don't LOVE bowling, but it's fun and any night out at this point is fabulous. We meet friends out for open bowling occasionally. It usually doesn't start until 10pm because of leagues. There is also a website called restaurants.com that sells discounted gift cards. It makes going out to dinner much more reasonable. Many local Wine stores have wine tastings. They offer cheese, crackers, and samplings of a variety of wines. That and a walk through town makes for a nice inexpensive evening. Hollywood Blvd, where you can see a movie, have a drink, and dinner is nice. They have specials on different days of the week. I think they offer discounted movie tickets on Sunday's. Once spring and summer are here there are lots of festivals, art shows, car shows, etc... that are all free, or cheap.
