Expand your "nights out" into day trips. My husband and I love to do 1st Monday trade days in Canton (1st weekend before the 1st monday of each month). We spend all day out there, looking for new/old deals. It's a lot of fun. Also, Mckinney trade days -3rd weekend of every month. Also, we always check out the Dallas Morning News & Star Telegram for events that are happening in our neighborhood. Try a new restaurant - one that no one has been to. For the evenings - bowling and billards is also fun for a group of people as well. During the month of October, we do Haunted Houses. At christmas time, we travel to Grand Prairie and do the christmas in the park light show or to the FT.Worth Zoo. Check out Addison.com!. Addison is a great flurry of activity beginning in May with their Taste of Addison. In June, every Saturday, they show old movies on a large screen, spread a blanket, BYOB and enjoy. In July they have Jazz festivals every saturday. So much to do. Dallas Guide Live on the web covers both Dallas & Ft.Worth. Enjoy!

I ran into the same old same old rut myself, and my friend and I decided we would treat ourselves as if we were visiting town and do all the touristy things we hadn't tried before (like a Segway tour of downtown, ghost tours, dinner boat rides, etc.) or things we do only when we're showing off to guests. Or fun things we used to do as kids - but without the kids. Putt putt golf takes on a whole new dimension after happy hour!

Hi A.!
How fun!!
This is what our little group of friends do on our "date nights" as a group. It's soooo much fun!
We stop, first, at the Lion and the Rose in Alamo Heights and eat dinner. The Sheperd's Pie is Awesome! The guys seem to like the Steak Sandwich. The drinks are kind of on the expensive side but the dinners are very well priced and the food is Perfect! I usually just drink tea with my meal, anyway and the guys are the ones who like to order their "sampler" beer tray. After dinner we hang out for just a little while. The guys play darts and smoke their cigars while we girls hang out and chat it up. Once we've all settled and not feeling so stuffed, we head out downtown to Polly Esther's for a night of dancing. The third floor is THE best place for dancing and we've found Saturday nights to be the most fun. We always park at the parking garage across from the Nix and walk across the street to the "back entrance", which is kind of like the front entrance because it's on street level. I believe it's College Street. We go through there because we bypass the long line down at the River level. Then just take a right and up the stairs to the third floor!
Have fun!! :O

I don't know what area of town you are in, but my gfs and I always have a good time at Down Under Pub in Frisco and Martini Park (and some of the other spots we can walk to from there) in The Shops at Legacy in Plano. If either of these are of interest, message me and I will tell you more!

Try rocking climbing in Addison- Wednesday is Ladies' Night at Exposure Indoor Rock Climbing. (2389 Midway Rd.)

Or Quiggly's Clayhouse in Richardson. The third Friday of every month is Ladies Night. (http://www.quigglys.com/ladiesnight.htm)

Also check out local play houses in your area. There's WaterTower Theater in Addison and Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. http://www.pegasusnews.com/places/eisemann-center

I know it might sound silly but sometimes silly is what we need! Try going skating at the local rink or go kart racing... you know any of the stuff that was fun when you were young. Or if your too grown up for that you could go to a wine tasting there are local places that have special events on certain nights. A group of mommies I know like to get together and go to sing at a local club. Check for events at the local theatre maybe there is a play you would enjoy, or find a dance class for the couples..or belly dancing for just the girls. Not all of these suggestions will be for you but surely one of them might be fun. :) Good luck!

Girls night out - Why not try something healthy like play tennis at your local courts? It would be a fun thing, not necessarily competitive, and you're burning calories while having fun. Most courts around where I live have lights for nighttime play. There's also bowling, driving range or batting cages. The thing is, you want to get together with the girls and have a good time--that can take place just about anywhere. How about Barnes and Nobles---you can browse books, get a cup of coffee and chat. Check out a movie on a weeknight and you can avoid the teens! If someone has a wii, that's blast, too with some games allowing 4 players at once. Maybe you have enough girls to form a bunco group--that's lots of fun, once a month, and you can find new recipes from others!

As for date night, that can be creative, too. Find out what you and your husband have in common - again, driving range, hit some tennis balls, check out an art gallery, a musical act downtown, a nighttime stroll through the zoo or Hermann park? Make a deal to check out a different ethnic restaurant a month (a kind of around the world in eating thing)--trying new foods, experiences together might be fun and different.
Simply taking a walk together, enjoying the peace and quiet might be nice if you're not in the mood to go out somewhere - use the opportunity to discuss your dreams/plans for the future. I think it's wonderful you're working at making time for friends and hubby---kids can be very demanding of your time and energy and you need that time away to re-energize and keep the marriage exciting!! Hope these ideas help!

Hi A.! Totally agree. My group of girlfriends went through the same slump. We tried all different types of food too then we decided to go bowling. They have "cosmic" bowling at night where the lanes glow in the dark; it's lots of fun. We also played putt putt golf & added a twist of timing each other & only 3 tries; which makes it fast & fun. We picked up fast food one night & just drove around the million dollar home area to dream & pick up ideas on landscaping if you're into that and of course we use that time to chat with each other. We also had a makeup party, I'm in Mary Kay so everyone came to my house & we just played with lots of eye shadow, blush & lipstick colors. Your friends will honestly tell you what you look great in and what you don't look great in. We also had manicures and pedicures together. Since there was 5 of us; we were able to go to a small shop and she allowed us to stay after hours. We took a bottle of wine and cheese and had the best time. Of course, this was all pre-arranged. There was no extra charge either. The owner provided egg rolls which was a nice surprise. An outdoor picnic with the girls is fun too; yes we are eating again... Hope these ideas help, Have fun with your friends and don't stop getting together. Girlfriends are a blessing and a blast!

As for a fun girls night...how about a jewelry party? No presentations, just a fun evening with friends...wine, snacks and jewelry to try on! A guarenteed fun night out with friends. Check out my website at www.mysilpada.com/A..ledesma - let me know if you have any questions. As for a date night with your hubby...how about a date night in? You guys could send the kids to grandma and grandpas (if possible), cook dinner together (could be fun and romantic...depends on what you do) - then rent some movies the two of you really enjoy...maybe some oldies but goodies. Just a thought...good luck!

I have a restaurant in Ft Worth at I-20 & Hulen called 29 Degree Tavern. The beer pours at 29 degrees into a frozen glass, hence the name, "The Coldest Beer In Texas!" The food is awesome, service is outstanding and we have a full bar. Ft Worth is now smoke-free so you won't come out of a restaurant smelling like you've been in a bar all night! We have TV's everywhere and all sporting events are available. Sorry, University of Oklahoma and any Texas teams will take precidence! Let me know what you think of the place!! Have Fun!

Hi A.
Do a wine tasting at someones house. Have everyone bring a bottle of wine to taste. You can make up some cards with all the wines so they can rate them...sweet, dry, inbetween, buy, don't every buy :) you get the point. Have some grapes, crackers and cheese on had to clean the pallet. I would just get smaller gobblets so you can taste all the wine without anyone getting to drunk. Have the girls get dropped off and picked up so you won't have to worry about any one driving drunk. google wine tasting online too

Try Republic in Las Colinas. Its new and really fun! I just recommended it on another similar post. It's located off 114 and Northwest Highway and they have ladies night every Wed night. They have a DJ who plays GREAT music and awesome lounge seating. If you're hungry, they have a separate dining area with an incredible menu. This is a place you could do date night or just with the girls. We spent New Years there! :)

For GNO, a lot of pottery places offer a ladies' night w/wine and appetizers and you get to make a piece of pottery to take home. There's a great place in Richardson called Quiggley's Clay House. My girlfriends and I had a blast.
Also for date night, one thing my husband and I want to try is taking a cooking class together.

I'm an Arbonne Independent Consultant - http://amychichester.myarbonne.com/ , so a lot of my girl's parties revolve around getting pampered. I will do foot soaks, shoulder massages (we pitch in and hire a masseuse for a couple of hours), facials, hand care, etc. We tend to drink a glass or two of wine at the same time too!!

Some other ideas would be "craft" get togethers (If someone knows how to knit, have them teach the group); book groups; cooking parties (prepare 2-3 different meals in bulk that each person can take home to freeze for the week); movies; etc.

As for date nights... I'm not really sure what those are! My hubby and I tend to always go to a movie/dinner when we get a date, as we rarely get to do those two things with the kids in tow!!

Good luck! I'd love to show you more about how you can do Arbonne parties too! Just let me know! ____@____.com

I am so envious! Those traditions both sound delightful! Have you ever been to Bath Junkie? As far as I know, there is still one in McKinney and one near Central Market in Plano. You go in and create your own personal care products by mixing scents & colors of your choice. It is very fun! The one in Frisco that closed did private parties-- you had to purchase a mimimum per person, but they gave you a "hand facial" to try out the products and could bring in your own refreshments-- it was lots of fun! Collin County Community College has a series of plays that are not that expensive, that would be something fun & different for couples-- maybe dessert/drinks/coffee afterward or dinner before?
Have FUN!!

From my experience as girls night out- We always get together once or twice a month.. We went to day spa (one or two times a year), skating, movie, book club, Starbuck at Barnes and Noble, friends house for social with or without Catering or Hire Chef, Mad Potter, Tripoley (card game- one time every month), and wine tasting. We just had our annual girls getaway weekend last year for the first time in Austin at the Day Spa (Lake Austin) and Mandolina winery tour!! FUN!!!

We will go Napa Valley this Spring for 3 nights in bed and breakfast with 6 ladies.

Enjoy your girls night out!!

My favorite girls' night location is The Work*Shop, on W. Anderson Lane, next to Terra Toys. You can bring in your own beverages and even food. They offer a ton of projects to do - paint your own pottery, beading, decoupage, and more. It's for people of all ages and all skill levels. It's just so fun!
And while that is perfect for girls' night, the guys tend to enjoy it on occassion as well. We had a 30th birthday party there and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of men truly liking it.

Another something fun for one night or the other is Capital City Comedy Club, or other's like it. You can't go wrong getting everyone laughing! And karaoke bars can be awesome. If nobody's truly into the singing, it's another good way for a laugh!

Have fun!!

The Shops of Legacy has a lot of great places to go and not necessarily to eat. Martini Park has a band at 9pm and you can dance, Cru Bar has a nice wine bar, Fox Grille is a fun sports bar. There are plenty of other places around there as well...those are just a few places where we frequent.

Also, A fun time can be had at the Frisco Roughriders when they are playing at home and in baseball season. It is in a smaller venue, lot of people watching, meeting, sometimes a social scene. You can go as cheaply as just getting a ground seat and taking your blankets to sit in the grass.

Have fun!
