I have used Roberts Auto Service ###-###-####) for about 10-15 years. They are in Pacific Beach, so that may be a little far for you. They aren't the least expensive, but they have excellent mechanics, some of them have worked there for over 20 years.
Ask for Keith, the owner. Tell him N. (with the VW Passat) referred you, though he might tease you and tell you that will cost you extra. LOL

Hi. Sorry my response is so late - I haven't had time to get on Mamasource lately :). But I have a great mechanic to recommend. If you have a GM car, I recommend GM Exclusive ###-###-#### on Melrose Drive in Vista, about a mile north of the 78. The owner, Art and his family, are friends of my sister and her husband. He is great and I trust him with my car absolutely. If you have any other make, I would recommend Rob's Auto ###-###-#### just across the street from GM Exclusive on Melrose. Before I had a GM, I took my cars to them for years and I loved them. The owner Rob was a friend of a friend, and he and his wife Tracy own the shop - they're great and absolutely trustworthy.

I know how tough it is to move to a new place and have to trust your car to someone new. I really hope you find someone you're comfortable with. :)
