How Can I Package This? PTA Fundraiser

Room moms have been asked to help organize baskets for a silent auction happening this weekend.

Originally, I was going to do a "Kiddie Craft" themed basket. I had big plans, but unfortunately only 7 families contributed the $3. I requested. So I have $24 to come up with some sort of basket for thisfundraiser. And it has to be done tomorrow.

I am a cake decorator, so I decided I could donate a custom cake to the project. Another mom makes personalized birthday invitations and offered that up to the cause. So I suppose we are going with a "Birthday Fun" theme. I have $24. How can I package this up to look inviting and show what it has to offer??? I thought about using the money to get a Party City gift card to add to it. Then maybe something that looks like a birthday arrangement, with the offers clipped to it??? I am clueless. How can I make this work mamas???

What can I do next?

I like the direction you are going in..

I would totally want to purchase your "basket"..

Maybe consider doing it in a "Happy Birthday" Gift Bag, stuff it with colored tissue and place the gift cards on Dowels or crazy straws sticking out of the bag and tissue. Wrap this whole thing in clear Cellophane..

Make a big tag that explains the value of your custom Birthday Cake, the Value of the custom Invites and the amount the Party city Gift card (maybe add a dollar so it is an even $25... I bet it is almost if not more than $100. value..

When making up the gift cards for your cake and the invites.. Be VERY specific about quantities, how much time in advanced you need to be contacted to bake.. etc..

Also place a expiration date on it.. Like "1 year.. from purchase."

I guess you can tell I have chaired the Gift Basket Committee before, hee, hee..

I think your idea is great, I would certainly bid on that basket. I think your idea of getting a gift card to Party City is a good one, you could do the $20. I would get a generic (balloons or something) Happy Birthday banner or sign to help advertise the basket then attach or place with it the offers for the cake and invitations as well as the gift card.

Get thee to town!!!!! Go to your local retailers, tell them what you need! Ask them for a donation! You will be so surprised @ how many are willing to help, you are on a short deadline so remember this for next time, if at all possible get a letter from the school, it will help.

Now, is there a 99cent store where you live???That's where I would spend my $$$...how about downloading a bunch of coupons...maybe, get some recipe cards & put special BD cake, treats, cupcake, frosting recipes on those...download some cute ideas for games & put them on paper that you have drawn on, the kidz can do the drawings (outline the directions actually) after you have put the ideas on!

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!

I would make a moc cake out of styrofome (sp) and decorate/frost it and have the other mom donate a few of her mock ups for the basket presentation and actually GIVE the winner an envelope with "Gift Certificates" and business cards for yourself and the mom who is also donating a home crafted good.
