Hotel Sleeping Arrangements

Hello,

My husband and I been going back and forth about this. We go out of town a lot and we always get a Hotel suite with a king bed for us and a sofa bed for the kids. I was just wondering are my kids too big to be sleeping in the same bed now that they are 14 and 16 and boy and girl. Should we start thinking about other sleeping arrangements ?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the replies. I called to Hotel and requested a rollaway bed. That seems to be the best way to handle the sleeping arrangements.

Thanks again for your help.

14 & 16 is to old. You sleep with the girl hubby with the boy. Or get a roll away brought in. It's only like $10 a night and so so worth it

Perhaps mother and daughter sleep together and father and son.

I can only speak for myself; it was sweet to see our kids (boy 12 and almost 9 girl) lying cosily next to each other reading on our son's bed a couple nights ago, however I think they are on the edge of too old to sleep in one bed when traveling. If they were the same sex, I wouldn't be concerned, but my two don't even want the other in the room when they are dressing at this point. Now, if your kids are perfectly comfortable with the arrangement, it may not be an issue, however it is probably best for all to plan for each kid having a bed. I liked the rollaway bed idea that someone suggested.

At that age, I'd just keep the same suite arrangement, but ask for a rollaway bed, too. One kid can use that. We have to do that because our kids are active sleepers: one karate chops in her sleep and the other rolls around the entire bed. No one can sleep with them, so the rollaway solves the problem.

I would opt for two adjoining rooms with separate beds for the kids. They're a bit old to be comfortable sharing a bed with each other.

Yes they are. I would be uncomfortable sleeping with my opposite sex siblings if it were me at those ages.

A roll away bed and or sleeping bag is a good way to go to remedy this problem.

Enjoy your travels.

Probably should have a few years ago. LOL. My kids are 14 and 11 and have not shared a bed for quite a few years. We always get a roll away or the youngest sleeps on the couch or floor. Glad you are separating them. Good luck.

We travel a lot for business and have a 14 year old girl and 10 year old boy. Most hotels that offer suites have an option of 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa. That's what we do. The kids take turn about who's sleeping on the sofa.

Sofa bed is also a good idea. Or bring a sleeping bag for the floor.

Blessings!

I seriously can't believe what I'm reading. There is nothing wrong or strange about opposite sex siblings sharing a bed while on vacation. It's like sitting on the same couch! The only thing wrong about their sleeping situation is what's going on in your head! They're siblings, ffs. If you treat it like it's "wrong" then that is how they will interpret it.

What we always did when I was younger with my two brothers once we got to that age we took turns. I would sleep with mom some nights and on the floor others and the boys would sleep in the same bed or with dad or on the floor. Back then I don't know it a roll away was an option

Ummm, yes.

I'm surprised some friend or family member hasn't already called in to child welfare about this sort of sleeping arrangements.

Kids of different genders shouldn't be sharing a room at all at home after the age of 4, that's my opinion as for a cut off age, and sharing a bed in a hotel room is just creepy. I know nothing is happening but still.

What you should do is get a room with 2 Queen beds and a sleeper sofa so you can have a bed for each kid. What you can do if they fight over the bed is to have one in it one night then they switch.

Or have girls in one queen bed and boys in the other queen bed and don't worry about the couch.
