So i had a son, now 7 mths old.. and now i think i should reduce weight and wud lovvv sum tips (that have worked -of course).
because i found out a strange sort of hard mass in my left butt cheek.. after antibiotics it has shrunk, it was all red and as if bruised.. and also when i sit down i feel as if my hip bone is protruding out
i am obese and the doctor l i've consulted over the phone says it's lipoma ..or haematoma .. and im too scared to go to the doc

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My primary concern is this lump/bump being due to obesity, hence weight loss is also an important cause of what i might be going through. I had been prescribed antibiotics by a gyneacologist, and as a result the bump on my butt shrunk. The reason i asked about the bump was to see if anybody has gone through it. Of course i will go see a doctor and i am thankful to all those who were polite enough to share their experience/advice with me ..

To lose weight you are going to have to decrease the number of calories you consume. The weather is going to get nice soon so start going for a daily walk.

As for the lump, you really should see a doctor. It can be scary but better to do it now before it causes a bigger problem.

You should be scared to NOT go to the Dr and find out what this lump/bump/mass is!

Don't rely on what others tell you it may be, get it diagnosed so you can take care of it and move on to become healthier.

As for losing weight, what works is a lifestyle change... eat less, exercise more. Cut junk from your diet. MODERATION is everything.

There are no magic pills. Some people who have bypass and lapband still gain all the weight back because they chose not to alter their lifestyle which is a HUGE part of getting healthy.

First of all - please - this is not a texting environment. It's really, really distracting to try to read a question that's half written, hald text-format. My first impulse is to skip over this question due to the "wud lovv sum tips" . Respect the members here and use real language please.

Now - first of all if you feel a bump that wasn't there before go see your doctor. It could be from a bruise (did you fall?) and it probably is not a bad thing. But if for nothing more than peace of mind - please see your doctor.

AS for weight loss - I think we all struggle with that. The only reason I lost my "baby" weight after my first child was because I was nursing her and she was very sensitive to the things I ate - so I had to stop eating dairy (cheese!), fried foods, spicy foods, gassy vegetables, acidic foods, etc. So for the first year I ate grilled chicken cutlet, pasta with broth and salad. Man I wish I could do that now! But my second child had no senstivities and I could, and did, eat anything. he was in kindergarten before I lost the weight.

Bottom line is that we need 20 minutes of exercise every day - and to get rid of sugar and junk. If we ate healthy food we could probably eat as much as we want!

Good luck mama. I wish I could tell you I've beat this weight thing but I haven't. :o(

It's not clear to me how you could have been on antibiotics, which you say you were, yet you have not seen a doctor. Can you explain? Were you taking old antibiotics you still had in the house? Or a prescription that was for someone else in the house? Doing either is very, very dangerous, if that's what you did. I don't see how it could be otherwise, if you didn't see a doctor.

Please get to the doctor. Why are you scared to go? Because the doctor might find something you don't want to know about? Not every lump is a cancer -- most are not. But if it were anything like that, you would rather leave it undiagnosed and untreated than go see the doctor? You have an infant son. He needs you. Go to the doctor.

It's worrying to me that you put the weight loss question ahead of the question about the lump. The lump gets priority right now, not the weight loss. It's very likely that the lump is or was a cyst or something simple like that, or that the hip issue you feel is something basic, or related to your weight, but we cannot diagnose you over the Internet.

For your son's sake, so he can have a mother who is in good health and not worrying, you need to get medical advice -- in person, and not online.

It's better to go see a doctor.
If you find out it's nothing then you have peace of mind.
If you find out it's not something trivial then you have the time to do something about it and have a better chance for the best possible outcome.
You have a baby - you need to take care of yourself so you are around to watch your son grow up.
When you are a parent - things that use to freak you out you now face head on - for the sake of your child.

People can say anything they want and you can choose to believe them HOWEVER no one's opinion can replace the diagnosis of a physician. Go see a doctor. No matter what you have the physician has seen it and treated it before. Peace of mind knowing what's going on with your body is important. You have a 7 month old relying on you.

A lipoma is a benign (non-cancerous) fatty tissue tumor. I believe they are soft. (My daughter had one on her neck and they used liposuction to remove it) They do not hurt nor would it shrink with antibiotic.

If lump is hard and red it could be a skin infection and that is why the antibiotics helped. Honestly, it does not sound serious now but it could get worse if you don't get it treated and the infection spread to your blood.

You really need to go to the doctors. You will be fine.

A doctor can NOT diagnose you over the phone. You need to go to the doctor. None of us here can help you.
People that are skinny and people that are obese get "masses" on their bodies. If there is a "mass" then you need to be seen by a doctor.
I understand being scared....but would you rather go and get whatever the issue is FIXED or never go, get septis, and die.
Your choice.

My crystal ball is broken and my medical degree hasn't shown up in the mail yet. Doctor. Doctor. Doctor.

By the way, they've invented this really cool thing that helps people understand what you're trying to say called the English language. Check it out when you have the chance!

Sounds like you have seen a doctor who has treated for the lump and you don't understand what he said. I urge you to call his office to explain your condition again.

Did the doctor say this lump was caused by your weight and it's necessary for you to lose weight so that you won't have lumps or was losing weight a part of a conversation about your general health.
ounds like he did identify the lump which has been reduced by antibiotics he prescribed. I suggest that since antibiotics has been beneficial this may not be directly related to your weight. Call and ask for the name he gave the lump and ask for a better explanation of it. Ask what you can specifically do to prevent a recurrence. If your weight is the cause ask specifically how your weight is causing the lumps.

My father and brother have fatty tumors that are called lipomas. The tumors consisted of fat but the tumors were not there because my father and brother were fat. I do know there was nothing they could do to be rid of the tumors. If you have fatty tumors antibiotics would not reduce the lump. You list lipoma as a possible diagnosis. If you have lipomas which is the name for fatty tumors, I suggest losing weight will not get rid if the lump. The lump is benign. My father had several such lumps for 20-30 years and had no health issues as a result.

You also list hematoma which is a bruise or gathering of blood in one place. You could have both a lipoma and a hemotoma.

Obesity does cause serious health issues. It is good to treat that issue. My tips consist of recommending you to get professional help. Learn about the way your body processes food and responds to exercise and how those two things cause you to lose or gain weight. Losing weight takes a combination of eating less calories and increasing physical activity.

I am suggesting that the cause for your lumps may involve a reason more complex than being over weight. I suggest that you need to have more information before letting this upset you. If your gynecologist suggested you see a different doctor that you do that as the next step. If the doctor made a diagnosis call and get more information.

I looked up limpoma.
