Have You Won Any Battles Lately?

There is something strange going on...

TWICE in the last couple of days someone has put a new roll on the toilet paper holder and it WASN'T ME!! Then, I just went upstairs to sort through laundry and put a load in, and it was ALL in the basket ready to go. No stray socks in the middle of the rooms, wet towels on the floor, or underwear shoved under the bed. EVERY piece of clothing in the basket. Neurons must be connecting all over the place in my house! Someone's getting steak for dinner tonight!!

Overreaction, I know. But the war's not over. I guess it's the little things, you know? Have you won any battles lately?

@Dawn: Of course that counts! That's probably one of the hardest battles of them all! :)

Hehe, MzKitty, I think you're right. Positive reinforcement. Lots and lots. :)

What can I do next?

Just last week, I was having devotions with the kids and we were reading Proverbs before school. The passage was talking about being lazy. The kids asked me if they were lazy. I said that if they had to ask me, then most likely they were lazy because the opposite of lazy is taking initiative. I said if they're making a conscious effort to take initiative to do what they're suppose to do without being asked or just doing things that they see needs done without having to be asked, then they're not lazy. But if they have to ask me, then they probably are. That day, they all took initiative. Messes were being cleaned up, chores were being done and the house stayed clean.... for a whole day!!!! =) Now we're back to lazy..LOL But I'll take what I can get!! =)

Yes, sort of.

My husband has been in a funk for the last few days and it's so annoying. He's over worked and says how much he does at home - when he really doesn't.

So then yesterday, I finally had it. I screamed at him that hello, I work too, I also do 100% of everything for our daughter minus put her on the bus in the AM. And that I deserve some respect and a pat on the back every once in a while for all that I do.

He didn't say anything but had a sorry look on his face. It snapped him out of his funk asap and I got lots of hugs!

My six yr old puts his dirty clothes in the basket every night. I looked at my husband as he watched this one night and said "Look at that! and how long did it take you to learn that? 44 years or so?" (hubby has almost got it....)
