Gray Hairs and Heart Attacks... JFF

...I SWEAR some days that's all kids are here for, to give us mom's gray hairs and heart attacks.

My son likes to sit on the armrest of the couch. He does it all the time; no big deal. He's not bouncing off the walls or anything, he just likes to sit there and drink his juice, have a snack, look at a book, whatever.

Well I had gotten up to get a bottle of water, and heard screaming... from all 3 kids. I rushed back into the living room... he must have been sitting too high up on the couch, slipped off the back, and was wedged between the back of the couch and the wall, kind of like he was folded in half (which is actually kind of funny now that I know he wasn't hurt, he was just mad he was stuck). But MAN, did my heart skip a few beats!!

This is the same kid who, a year ago, ate a fish hook. He needs a padded room and a helmet! (And he'd STILL hurt himself, I swear!)

What have your kids done to give you YOUR gray hairs and heart attacks??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

@Jo, when the baby was 9 months old, he was in his car seat, the fishing poles secured on the OTHER side of the car. They somehow came loose, he saw something shiny, and, as most 9 month olds would, stuck it in his mouth and hooked himself, through the top of his upper pallet, out through his gum, right between his teeth. My husband was 6 shades of green/gray... my nervous habit is laughing... I think the docs at the ER thought we were MANIACS! He's fine, no long term damage... but yes, THAT one gave me about 20 new grays and 2 heart attacks ;)

R., I remember when you first posted about the fish hook incident. Every time I see your name, I think "Ah...the fish hook lady".

It seems it's always something in our house. For me it's not the injuries, it's the "other" stuff. Like today I think I got three new gray hairs. Took a quick shower...seriously quick, I barely got wet. Came out of the shower to find my son had gathered every blanket and pillow he could find to make some sort of fort on my bed. A huge red spill where my two year old decided she needed some juice and brought the full, 2 qt pitcher to my room. She has also decided today that she wants to "pee like Daddy" and keeps trying to stand up...which may explain why pee was on every square inch of the bathroom when I got out of this shower. Ahhhh....at least it's never boring!

Our sons sound so much alike! This child has NO fear! He is currently running around the house being a ghost with a sheet over him bouncing off walls. I have said the same thing about the padded room!
Hes nuts! Always keeps me on my toes!

Oi!!
So on Saturday, we were all hanging around the house. My son needed a nap BAD. So i says to my wonderful man "babe I'm putting Riley down for a nap, Keep an eye on Abi" he says "OK"

So i go upstairs to put Riley to bed. I go down the hall to get back downstairs and what do I see....My 10month old EIGHT STAIRS UP!!!! There are 14 stairs in my house. She was just sitting there, trying to get all the way up. OMG I thought I was going to be sick.
Thankfully I grabbed her before anything happened. MAN I yelled at my husband. He said " he didn't hear me"
Oh that was scary. Oh and I didn't have a baby gate up because my hubby was right there... / facepalm

My daughter was like a year old and tried to pick up a bag of baby food we just brought in from the store. Of course it was too heavy for her and she dropped it. My husband says be careful, it might have broken a jar. I told him, she chucks those things off her highchair onto the tile and it hasn't broken yet, but I was already on the way to pull the bag away from her. In the mean time she reaches in and pulls out...the only damn broken jar in the bunch! I took it away immediately and threw it out. I checked her hands...nothing. So I started to put the groceries away. She came into the kitchen after me and when I look down she is covered in blood. There are splatters on the floor, the front of her shirt and her sleeve are all stained red. Yep, she had cut her finger, pretty good too. I guess it just took a little to actually start bleeding. She never cried or gave any indication that she was hurt. Just meandered into the kitchen blood soaked. Yeah, I aged like ten years in ten seconds.

My kids belong in a zoo, still they have not swallowed a fish hook. How the heck did that come about?

I have so many stories!
One morning, when my son was around 2 1/2 one morning that I thought he was watching tv and I decided to stay for 5 minutes in bed, when I came out I found...... my purse upside down.... my sofa completely covered with a grafitti painted with a mix of black eye liner and red lipstick.... then over the table, where I was gift wrapping.... all the paper shredded in pieces AND... over the kitchen counter... a whole bag of candies he aparently did not like but kept trying one by one until he managed to get all of them wet and all over around..... all of this in really less than 5 minutes.

My daughter this year, she is not 3 yet.... went into the laundry room, moved all the mops and water cubes that were in the way, opened a drawer, found the closed tupperweare box I had way in the back, opened and took a special craft knife that is round (like a pizza cutter) but it has a kid protection on it... she managed to take it out of the protection and cut her finger really bad.... the same week that she painted all my white wall with black permanent marker and cut her hair with her brother's scissors.

Yes, my kids are responsible of my white hair!
