What are you getting your guy for Christmas this year (if anything)? This is the first year in probably 6 or 7 that we've had enough money in the budget to buy gifts for each other. Normally we just do stockings for each other & then concentrate everything else on the kids. This is partly because of the budget & partly because it seems silly to spend a ton of money (or any, really) when we share all of the money anyway. It kind of makes it feel like we're buying stuff for ourselves, if you know what I mean. Anyway, this year he said he wants to buy me something & so, of course, I will be buying something for him as well. He's kind of hard to shop for. I mean, I know I can get him a year's subscription to Sirius satellite radio, a game for the Xbox 360 we're getting for Mike, & a new duty belt for work, but other than that, I'm kind of at a loss.

Basically, I'm looking to copy someone else's grand idea of the perfect gift, ha! So, lay it on me, ladies. What are you planning on, or have already bought your SO for Christmas this year?

What can I do next?

Does he like to grill? You can get personalized irons, where he can brand his meats w/his initials or even his name if you want to splurge on that. Irons start at about $40.

I like giving "life question" journals which takes a person through their history, childhood, adulthood and thoughts of the future. They make them for men too. Questions like "How many homes did you live in growing up" and "Who was your first kiss". Stuff like that. If your husband is sentimental, it might be nice to let him walk down memory lane and at the same time leave your kids a great story and legacy. They are only about $12-20 at any bookstore.

If I think of anything more I'll add it. hth!

I ordered a replica hat from the ship my husband served on and I'm buying him the newest Madden Game. One sentimental gift to fill my girlie need to be mushy and one guy gift to fulfill his need to feel like a kid on Christmas morning!

Last christmas hubbers was unemployed and really, really, really wanted this certain kind of watch, but just knew he wouldn't get it. I found it on super sale and got it for him and he was sooo suprised (I set it out with the kids' santa gifts -hee hee)
This year, I am going to one of those BYOB painting places wehre you send in a picture of your pet. We have this incredible picture of our lab out hunting with him - he took it on his phone- and I am going to paint that for him because he loves that dog - and that picture of said dog:)

Most men appreciate practical gifts. That being said is there a store that he loves to shop at, that you usually don't have the funds for him to enjoy? Get him a gift card so that he can shop at his favorite place and purchase what he enjoys. My husband loves computer related items, he is an Engineer, (AKA computer geek) and there are always things he wants that are just not in our budget. He would love a shopping spree at one of these stores.
I think you are on the right track with the Sirius radio too. You could take his car and have it detailed. Plan a night out for him and his buddies, maybe arrange it or pay for a limo to keep them all safe. Good Luck

A towel warmer and monogrammed towels. He HATES getting out of the cold shower and hates even more when he cannot find a towel the kids haven't used!

A gift card for gofling

Clothes

A Blu Ray Player

Other ideas: - a remote control helicopter for him and your son so they can play together. Mine LOVED this last year. Brookstones has a pair for $100 total - worth it!

Check out brookstone.com - they have all kinds of manly gadgets he will love!

Also, what about some sexy pictures of yourself, those are always a hit!!

GOOD LUCK!

My husband told me he wanted a new electric razor. Boring, but he said he wanted it. Every year I also get him a gift certificate/card to the marina he goes fishing from. This gives him 1-2 days boat rental and any bait he needs. I might also register him for the flounder tournament in April so that if money is tight in April, he is ready for it.

Which reminds me, I need to call them and order it.
