Has anyone tried gel nail polish? It's a special nail polish that cures under a UV light and is very shiny. I've seen it in my nail salon and in the beauty aisle at Walmart. Does it last longer than regular polish? I wear solar nails and have had them for over 5 years. I usually wear them French style, with pink and white powder and UV gel top coat over them. Regular nail polish lasts 2-3 weeks on my toenails, which I usually do myself. On the rare occasions that I wear polish on my solar nails, the polish fades and wears off at the tips after a few weeks. With the pink and white powders, they don't wear off or fade, they just grow out. One of my coworkers gets the acrylic overlay with the colored gel polish on top. She says it lasts for 4 weeks until her nails need redone. My solar nails last for 4 weeks until they need to be filled. I just would like long-lasting color. Thanks for your opinions!
Had the gel polish done ONCE and never again. Like others have said, it ruins your nails. The removal process is awful. Completely dried out my nails. It took a long time for them to get healthy again.
The UV light is damaging to your skin, too.

I have not read the other responses, but I just wanted to quickly add that I recently read an article that said the UV light to cure the gel comes with the same risks as all exposures to UV (skin cancer). So, I just wanted to add this bit of info into everything you are mulling over.

I've never used it, but I was sitting next to two women at a training the other day who both said they would never use it again. Both of them has used it for extended periods of time and had a lot of damage to their nails. One said that her mom had basically lost her natural nails after using gels and acrylic nails for years.
I use it & love it. You should be sure to get rubber gloves to wash dishes & clean. I like it!
My mom and sister get these kinds of nails and I think they are beautiful. The tips do not chip and the color doesn't usually fade. I don't know how long they last, but they both love them.
My mom likes them so much she bought the professional kit from Sally's so that she could do them at home. My sister did mine once and it was not so great, they didn't cure right. Be Sure to follow times and directions to a T. But, the 2nd time we did them they lasted quite a while.
I don't know what you do because you get more mileage out of you nails now than I have ever gotten with anything! Good luck!
Well since you already damage your nails by getting Solar aka pink n whites then the damage will be fine.
I used it once, it still chipped and it ruined my nails. It took weeks and tons of care to get my nails back to nice. I enjoy painting my nails myself, doing fun nail art and when I do not have the time I use the "sticker" like applications.
