It seems like the last thing you want to do, but regular exercise is a great energy booster. Pack up the kids and take a brisk walk or even better take an hour all by yourself to do whatever kind of exercise you enjoy. Avoid lots of processed food and sugar, that gives you a pick up and then even lower energy low. Eat whole grains, fruits and veggies and drink lots of water. Try to make the kids nap at the same time so you can lay down too. Even with my oldest that does not nap, I still have him spend an hour quiet time in his room while his sister naps and I can recharge on my own. If it persists, you might check with your family doctor about anemia or depression, just a couple of things that come to mind that will make you feel very tired. Take care of yourself before you can take care of your kids! Good luck!

I agree that vitamins work and so does exercise; even though it sounds odd that exercising will boast your energy. Also, with an infant you just might not be getting enough sleep if s/he is getting up during the night. If you need a nap have cuddle time with the toddler while the baby is sleeping and catch a few zzzs. When I was little I remember my dad having us lay down with him and he would tell us that we just had to lay there until he fell asleep and then we could go play. Wouldn't you know it us girls fell asleep before him each time. You think we would have learned to stop playing that game :) Best of luck and you will get more sleep as they get older!

T.,
I don't know, but when you find it send me some. I don't have two kids like you do, but i sure could use the energy.
I have a 3yr. old and I am alsmost 40, so I could use some energy too.

I am a 43-year-old SAH/WAHM mom with two small children (ages 3 years and 10-1/2 months). My husband and I own a small business as distributors of a fabulous line of all natural nutritional supplements, and I must say that these products are wonderful for giving me the energy I need to get through the day ... especially at my age! LOL. Please send me a quick email if you'd like more information - ____@____.com.

I should take this advice as well, but I know when I do take my vitamins, they work!!! When I stayed at home, I tried my hardest to get my two little ones to nap at the same time. Try to make sure you are getting ample sleep at night, as well. My boys are 3 and 5 and I still get up at least once a night, so I know that is easier said than done.
Vitamins, healthy diet and exercise are the keys. Other than that, I know I have at LEAST 13 years before I might ever feel fully energized during the day!!!
Best wishes, keep on truckin, it does get better!!!

Although the speed is a good idea :) lol I personally am a big believer in naps- espically when mine were infants- my mom gave me the advice- sleep when he sleeps- when your sleep is interrupted at night it is hard not to drag during the day- so allow yourself a nap if you need it- the other advice diet and exercise and vitamins will make a world of difference too!! Good luck!!

Are you still taking your pre-natal vitamins? Your body loses a lot during childbirth and a good pre-natal (or multi-vitamin designed for women) is really helpful in replacing what you need to keep your body going.

Try to rest when your kids rest. I know it's cliche but it's true. Forget the housework, the dishes, the laundry and whatever else is going on and catch 20 minutes of rest - doesn't have to be sleeping, just rest. And though I know it's not so good for us...caffeine helped me get through the first year with my girls being 16 months apart. It was tough...but it does get better as they get older! I promise you!
