Chair of Shame

Hey Mammas,
A while back (ok, WEEKS and WEEKS ago) my daughter brought two pairs of jeans down in which the zippers had broken. I had intended to drop them off at the cleaners for new zippers (the cleaners being on the corner up the street which I pass at least 4 times daily). A day or two later I need to wipe off the counter where they were sitting. I put them on the chair (bar stool actually, at the island, the one closest to the door that no one ever sits in).

A day or so after that, the Man brought in two cans of paint from the garage to 'warm up' intending to do a little touch up painting. Shortly afterwards, I had to sweep the floor, so I put the paint cans, you guessed it, on the Chair of Shame. Where they STILL sit two months later.

I'm pleased to say, I DID finally remember to drop the jeans off, but that VERY same day, my daughter brought me one of her bras on which the underwire had started poking out (aawwwww, her first impailment bra!) That was over a week ago, and there it still sits.

So I wonder, do you all have a Chair of Shame as well?

Have a great day!

:)

What can I do next?

A chair? No. A garage of shame? Yes!!! I can't stand clutter in my house so I throw everything "for later" in the garage. It gets taken care of maybe twice a year, lol.

LOVE this question! Yes, we have a counter of shame. It's at the end of the counter and that's where all of the bills, school papers, magazines, pens, laptop, EVERYTHING ends up.

It's soooo annoying, but it is what it is.

Let's see, I have a Dryer Top of Shame, a Desk of Shame, a Bookshelf of Shame.... I could go on. I also have a pile of clothes that need to be ironed. When the pile gets big enough I take it to Goodwill.

I'm sitting at it now, while I type. It's the desk of shame... if I could tear myself away from Mamasource long enough, I'd clean it up and probably feel a whole lot better about myself!

Oh well, on to the next question!!! (LOVED your post!)

Chair? Heck, I have a chair, a desk, half the time my kitchen table and my coffee table. I even have a box under my coffee table with all my knitting projects (which are all in various stages of being completed).

Drives my husband insane! Some day I'll get to all of it....

Mine is called the "rat's nest"...it is the counter next to the microwave...about 2.5 feet of stuff sucking space. It piles and piles and piles there...returns, coupons, mail, pieces of kids toys, it goes on and on.

I hate the "rat's nest"!!!

I like Kate B. Have a counter of Shame. Everything and I meen EVERY thing ends up there. I try to keep on it but no matter how I try I cant keep it cleared out. My Hudband has a bar stool of shame as well. thats here he puts all his stuff so he nad find it in the morning. Would be a fread Idea but half the time he still leave some "droppings" there and on the counter as well.
Sigh

THANK YOU!!!! Reading this question and all the answers have made me feel so much better!! The last 4 steps of our staircase are open with no banister, so that's where the mail ends up... along with school notices, newspapers and other random items. Sometimes I'll go through it all and condense the pile so it takes up only one step instead of all 4... not quite good enough though.
Then we have a counter in the kitchen that is always covered with junk. Usually this time of year I clear it off so I can stack cookie tins and display Christmas cards on it. Haven't had time for it cause I've been so busy baking. Now I'm eating extra cookies because I don't have a place to put them!! What is wrong with me?!? Maybe we can all take turns doing interventions at each other's houses... Goodwill would be so happy with us!! :)

The line "impalement bra" just MADE my day.

Yes. It's called the space in my kitchen that I intend to put a breakfast table. Instead of a table it contains: boxes from the basement (seasonal stuff), random things I happened to have in my hand as I walked by it, a pair of cleats that needs to be donated, a few toys, a bathrobe, a leash, laundry that is supposed to be elsewhere, 2 boxes that used to hold dishes, the sewing machine I keep meaning to mend some clothes with (since July), the list goes on. I got it clear for thanksgiving, and then I turn around and What??? How is it filled with stuff again?

I do indeed, but mine is the hutch in my dining room. This wouldn't be as big of a deal if you didn't walk directly in the front door into that room, but you do. It's where the mail goes, the pony tail holders, my purse, report cards, a screwdriver (?!) and loose change can sit for, oh, I would say pretty much forever. I clean it off as often as possible, but it never gets better.
Oh yeah, we have a chunk of counter space set aside for exactly the same reason. Ugh!

Not sure this is what you meant...I have a Basket of Shame. It sits on the counter and collects stuff until I cannot stand it. Then I do something really shameful...

I move the overflowing basket into the attic and start a new Basket of Shame.

I probably have a dozen baskets lined up on a shelf up there. I know I should look thru the stuff and throw some and put the rest awway but...

I have a closet of shame! My bedroom closet is the worst room in the house. I hate hanging stuff, folding stuff, and putting away clothes (I do put everyone else's laundry away though just fine). Thankfully, my husband and I have our own closets. I don't even like him to see the closet. It's a mess! If this is the only mess in the house, I feel okay about that :)

As for the jeans... when I have something like that, I put it on a tote bag and hang it on the entry way doorknob, so when I leave, the bag is right there. Sometimes I still forget though!

I have a baby gate of shame. It is on the bottom of the stairs up to the craft room. Unfortunately I moved my husband's jeans up to the craft room, and haven't see them for the last month.

Oh, and of course the counter. But I am doing better!

HA! I have a whole house of shame. A very teeny tiny house and lots of things, 2 kids, a job, and no time to go through it all. Lately I feel like I'm treading water - always moving, always busy, but nothing ever gets done.

I am by nature a very neat person and the state of things at home lately is very distracting and depressing.
