I like ,but have never asked, a fun question on here.

Where do you throw your random stuff that has no place?, Or your stuff you need to disappear right away and then sort out later?

Mine is the top of the fridge, i was just up there shaking my head at all the stuff i lost!

What can I do next?

I have a box in my home office that needs to be sorted through. It's so sad really. By the time I do end up going through it -- it's mostly mail and papers that I receive back from my children's teachers -- most of it can be tossed or shredded anyway.

Oh gosh, ok. Lets see there's on top of the bar, mostly because the baby can't reach up there (well she can reach the sides). On top of the microwave. The built in drawers under each closet in all 3 bedrooms. The built in cabinets above the closets in all 3 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms was really cluttered but we had company so we had to clean it all out, although right now it's looking messy again. =)

I had to laugh reading all of the responses. Everyone has mentioned shelves and baskets and closets- mine is an entire room- by bedroom. That's where everything goes. Doesn't belong anywhere? Put it in Mom's room! Company coming and stuff all over? Put it in Mom's room! Can't find a place for it? Put it in Mom's room! I have everyone's clothes, shoes, toys, storage items, keepsakes, books, and random stuff covering pretty much every surface of my room. It's just so easy to shut the door and ignore it that now it's ridiculously piled up. I guess that means it's time for a deep clean! (My kid and husband HATE deep cleans- we move all furniture, rugs, everything and clean on top, under, in, behind, in front and beside everything. Everything finds a home or goes away with the garbage/ freecycle people)

My husband is really tall so he stacks everything on top of the fridge or on top of our entertainment center. Drives me crazy. I however throw everything into a box and throw the box in my bedroom. Drives my husband crazy because I have about 5 different boxes in my room of random things that go throughout the house. It is my goal this week to get it all sorted out.

Well... i used to be an "any flat surface" person but my husband got a little tired of it and more importantly :) my DD can reach most of them. SO now my biggest messy place is the corner of the bedroom on my side of the bed. It is a nook between the dresser & my nightstand and in front of my closet. Unfortunately (?!) I need to clean it because I can't quite get to my closet to hang up my clothes. The ones that just came out of the wash are now on the dresser in a pile!

LOL . We have a cabinet in our kitchen and everytime I open it something falls out ! Once a week when things fall out I throw a few things away but it seem to fill up again. UGH ! Someday I will empty the whole darn thing out, that is if Eggo stops making waffles and I have to truly get to that darn waffle iron.

Our guest room/office. We usually only have company in the winter and early Spring that uses that room and we don't go in there often to use the home computer because we're always on the laptop. So, I use the bed to pile stuff on, the desk is loaded with old mail that needs to be shredded, the closet is storage for clothes that need to be donated, and any random thing that gets brought in or gifts that need to be hidden.

Christmas is coming and company is coming, so I guess I get to muck it out pretty soon.

The top of my dresser - things are balancing on top of stacks - just barely- SO now is the time I Have no choice but to Clear it off. Its All sorts of random things...... Then once its All clean and I'm proud of myself and say "OK this time it will Stay this tidy" A cruel little elf comes out in the middle of the night and starts tossing things up there again....... I wish i could catch that little SOB! hahaha ;-)
Also my little corner of the room is piled high w/ clothes, toys, shoes, bags of things to be donated, old gift bags, documents to be put away, photo albums to be filled.... sadly the list goes on and on. ISNT your bedroom supposed to be your 'Haven' your spot of Relaxation and Tranquility??? Not in my house.......

any flat surface. countertops, tops of bookshelves, the guest bed, our loveseat in our bedroom (we always celebrate when we can actually sit on it!!!) floors.......... ack!!! then when it's time to clean up i dump all that stuff in a tub or a laundry basket to sort and put away later. so i have two tubs on my kitchen counter right now... is that cleaner than sitting out on the counter?

my question for everyone is HOW to conquer these messes? no matter how much i clean up and organize the clutter and junk and paper and laundry returns pretty much instantly. i really do clean my house, but it never looks like i do :)

and how do you get your kids and husband to help keep things clean?

I have a short shelf on my hutch where I stash misc papers & bills to be paid. And the top of my daughter's dresser always seems to have a pile of some sort! I put a pretty decorative basket & candle on the top of mine to keep myself from putting stuff on it. :) I may need to do that with hers too

Great "fun" question!

Thanks for bringing it up! I was just thinking about it today! We have a section in our kitchen that's never clear of random stuff!! Even if I clean it within days It goes back to where it was. Ours is on the corner of the kitchen island against the wall. I wish I had a big drawer to just throw everything there until I get the chance to sort it out!

It's a tie between our walk-in bedroom closet and our laundry room - both are a disaster and I keep meaning to clean them out and organize them, but it just has not been a priority.

The guest bed. Right now it contains my daughter's old jeans I am selling, some shipping boxes, a huge pile of my son's PJ's that need to be put away, tissue paper, and some Christmas cards I found while cleaning. Lol. Embarrassing!

Because babies don't really "use" their closets for clothes for awhile, ours has become my baby's closet in his room....it used to be the WHOLE room (before we found out it would need to be a baby's room). We used to use that room for Christmas gifts, "I have no idea where else to put it" items, friends even brought stuff over to store in there (a treadmill that they were waiting to sell). It was nice to have because we could just close the door and no one but us knew it was there. But I'm proud that, considering what this room USED to be, we've condensed it down to just the closet now.

I LOVE questions like this.....
