i found out her mom came in and is helping cook right now... i would rather offer help when she has none, and also not feed the extra 4 people that she has in her house helping, just because we don't have a ton of cash.

Wow! What a tough situation. Are there small catering companies or cafes that could deliver meals after the house guests have gone? Perhaps the grocery store or local florist will make up a fruit basket to deliver. The grocery store would also make up a deli platter. I think a cleaning lady is a great idea. Not full of ideas right now but will share more as they come to me. Best wishes to all...
My Mom sent us Jimmy John's one time (she lives far away). They deliver and it was such a nice treat!
What about gift cards for places like Panera, Brueggers Bagels, grocery store, Target, etc. That way she can decide when to use the gift cards when she needs them for a quick meal, supplies, etc. Sorry for your situation.

Gift certificate for a local pizza place
Gift certificate for a local drop-in childcare center, if they have one where they live. These are often near shopping malls and allow you to drop off your kids for up to five hours.
