Hello. My BFF is having a bris this weekend and I have no idea what is appropriate for us to get/bring? She has always known and been great at getting me and my girls appropriate items and now I want to do the same. She is Jewish, but not strict. I am Catholic and thus, the conundrum :) Although I did study Judiasm in school (because of my BFF), I still have no idea what to get. I live in the far North Shore and don't know where to go either. Do I get a card, if so, what kind? Thanks!
You can treat a bris the same as a baby shower - you can buy a baby gift.

If you have not already given a "new baby" gift then choose whatever you would normally choose for the birth of a friends child. If you already did this then there is no need to bring a gift. You could take a token for your friend as a bris is somewhat traumatic on Mom.

Get a congratulations card that is fairly simple and then get whatever you would get for a Christening minus the religious part. Cash is always good!
Just bring a gift. It doesn't matter that you are attending a bris - what matters is that your friend had a baby, so get her a baby gift, just like she got you baby gifts. It's the same thing. The actual bris (as I'm sure you know) is a 15 minute religious ceremony/circumcision, but the bottom line is that she has a baby, so get her a baby gift. You can get her a card that says Congratulations on your baby (same card you would get anyone else of any religion).
