My husband and I are wanting to install a security system. We have spoken with both companies(ADT and Brinks), and just want to hear what other people feel about them. Thanks so much!
We had bad experiences with both! We had ADT when we moved in our home so we kept them for several years. However, the service was terrible so when we needed new equipment we went with Brinks. Their services was worse! Plus, you had to sign a 3-year contract so when we moved we had to pay for the remaining months of service. I couldn't recommend either.
I've dealt with both companies before... when I lived with my grandmother we had ADT.. now that I have my own house I chose Brinks. I got a referral from my sister and her husband and they applied a discount to their bill. I wasn't feeling ADT's package and price. In my area there are plenty of ADT users but also Brinks. I haven't had any problems with Brinks and when the power went off they were right on it, resetting the system. The salesman even came to my house the day of the installation and afterwards for a follow-up and made me feel very comfortable. So its really up to you compare them side by side. What works for me may or may not work for you.

I just got a Brinks security system installed and they were fantastic! And, they were a lot less expensive than ADT for the same features. We looked at ADT too, but more money for not better product (we thought).
I would be careful with either company as I know for sure that ADT will make you sign a contract and their monthly fee is not cheap...they may install your system for something like $99, but in the long run, they are more than making that money up in their monthly fee. I don't really know anything about Brinks. However, I would like to put a good word in for my husband...he has his own business installing security systems. He has been doing this for 10 plus years...he works with a lot of builders in the Naperville, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Plainfield area and I'm sure he could give references if you would be at all interested. I do know that with the cost of the system (which depends on what you want) the first year of monitoring is included, and after that it is only $240 a year which works out to $20 a month.
