Is this normal...? After 4 years on Yasmin I began starting my period a week early with each month. My doc switched me to Loestrin. The first month I began one week early, and now on the second month- beginning of 2nd week- I am have a heavy period and serious cramps. I called and the nurse (who has given me bad info in the past) said I should wait at least one more month. It's so frustrating and I don't understand what is going on or why.

What can I do next?

I can refer you to a good OB/GYN. If you would like.

That happened to me after my daughter (now almost 2 1/2 yrs) was born. I was on Yasmin (which did great for the 1 yr I was on it after my first born). I started having my period every 2 weeks. The doc then put me on Orthotricylen (I think it was) and it did the same thing. So finally I got off birthcontrol (use VCF now) and the problem solved it self. I've been pretty regular ever since. Plus not as moody as the birth control made me. As to which other birth control to try, I wouldn't have that answer. This is what works for me.

Step 1 MIDOL!!!! Get you some relif, quick!
Step 2 Get a new OB/GYN that cares for you as much as about you, while you are waiting that 1 more month.
Step 3 Do a little research of your own to learn about more b/c options. Ask these Moms. Of course, everyone is different. By and large, the majority of them hate the DepoProvera shot, many recommend Mirena, and we all will empathize.
My cycle still hasn't levelled out, and my OB/GYN said it could take up to a year and maybe more after having a baby. I've been having a few of your symptoms, but I got Essure. The flooding, cramping, and irregular have been difficult. I was on the shot for 7 years. I'm over weight, but now have my libido back, relearning how to cry and be a girl again. No period for 7 years was a treat, but not worth what it's going to take to get over it. Hate being on meds, and could not remember to take pills. Patch was itchy and I had break through with it.
Let us know how it goes. Big hug sent your way.---S

I don't have any experience with this, but I would recommend finding a new doctor, fast!

I would be very cautious with Loestrin. I took it for about 7 months and could not stand the depression anymore. At first I thought it was other things going on in my life but I finally did some research and realized that it was the Loestrin pills that were affecting me. I've been off of them for 1 month and everyone tells me that I'm back to my happy self again! Good luck!
