I am looking for responses from those who are on loestrin 24. I have been taking this BC for approx 16 months and had issues at the beginning with constantly spotting.Then for months I had no period even-which the Dr said is ok. So who wouldn't be happy with no period. Then Recently I have bleeding everyday for at least half the day even on the white pills. So for the past 4-3 weeks everyday I had some kind of bleeding.I took 2 preg teasts and both are neg. So my question is-did anyone else ever experiance this.Thanks in advance. L.
I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for over a year now. The only times I've experienced spotting was when I missed a dose. I think this is due to the fact that the estrogen levels in the pills are so low. I know that my gynecologist stressed I should take the pill at the same time every day.
Overall I'm very happy with this pill. My periods last for about a day or two and are so light, I could get away with simply wearing a panty liner.
Hi L.,have you ever missed your pill in any cycle? if you are taking one pill everyday at the same time and you are having irregular bleeding after 16 months of use then you need to change your ocp.you need to tell your provider when you are bleeding while taking your pills.if you bleed the first week of your ocp cycle you need more estrogen......if your bleeding is more mid cycle of your ocp you need to change to ocp with more estrogen and progestrone.....just let your provider know about the pattern of your bleeding and he/she will know what ocp to give you.I suggest you use condom as backup when you have irregular bleeding with ocp as the chance of pregnancy increases.please let me know if you have any questions or need more info.

Break-Thur bleeding is never fun, but it happens to most women, sometime in their lives.
I experienced it while I was taking Yasmin as well as a couple others. It wasn't until about 2 years ago, when I found Loestrin 24 that my periods became regular, lighter, shorter, and no break-Thur bleeding. Also, the PMS symptoms seemed to dissipate as well. So, it seems to work for my body for now.
I truly believe that when we are playing with our natural hormonal make-up we may be throwing it out of balance, and when we are out of balance, there is now space for disease, and side effects. Break-Thur bleeding may just be one way your body communicates an imbalance within your special, individual make-up. I would suggest speaking with your doctor about this and seeing what other types of pills are available as well as other birth control options. Work as a team with your body and your doctor, and remember, this is the doctors "practice" and your body is what they are practicing on, so you get to be "patient".

I was taking Loestrin 24 for approx 6 months, and became pregnant 4 weeks ago, and 1 week ago had a miscarriage. My point of view, I HATE this birth control. It made me irritable (not until I started really looking back to the previous months, and noticing that I was not "myself").
Everyone reacts differently to birth control, so I hope you either wait this one out a little while longer, or switch to a pill that may not have the same side effects. Remember too, that one of the side effects of most birth control is spoting either as a period, or between periods. Good Luck!
I had the same issue while on Loestrin. This was probably 10 years ago for me. I was switched to lo-ovral until I had my kids and it worked great for me. Tell your doctor you want to switch. Your doc will probably just call in a new prescription for you. I've switched many times after a month and its never been a problem.

I was on the regular Loestrin for about 10 years and loved it. Due to insurance, I was switched to the generic form of it. It was awfull!!! I also had breakthrough bleeding for 4 months. I never felt right on it with bloating and headaches. I made sure to take the pill as directed - the same time every day and never missed one. Six months later I was sick as a dog. I tried 3 different pregnancy tests and all were negative. I was 8 weeks pregnant when a test showed up positive. I now have a beautiful 19 month old boy who is the love of my life, besides my husband. My advice...use a barrier method (condoms) until you know the pill is really working for you.
