Try no dairy and see if that helps.
We recently went vegeterian (again) and it is amazing how cutting the dairy helped that, even on my 16 year old daughter!

Wheat is also a culprit for many.

Hi K.,
Bless your heart. This is an awful feeling.
Sometimes when I eat foods that my body does not like (lettuce, onions, etc.) I get a bloated feeling. I have found that baking soda or charcoal capsules work wonders.
I make my own baking soda caps, they do not sell them yet.
You can find the little mechanism and caps at your local health food store. If not let me know and I can get you one. Usually works within 15 20 minutes.
Food allergens are probably your problem. You might get a FICA (ELISA) test done. It is less invasive than the prick test. and probably more informative.
Good Luck and God Bless! Have a wonderful day!

Consider a gas X or beano. Regardless of the stool softener and medications it could be the type of food you are eating.
Gas X and beano has worked wonders. Beano, you take before you eat and it prevents gas and such from happening and your body full takes in the nurtients. Gas X is more for after you feel bloaded or get gas pains and it goes away within minutes.

I used to feel like that too. I gave up carbonated drinks and only drink water now and the bloating has completely dissapeared.

I just bought a book titled "The Flat Belly Diet" The book lists some common causes of bloat. Here are a few they list 1. salt and highly processed foods 2.excess carbs
3.bulky raw foods 4. gassy foods ( like beans, broccoli, cabbage, peppers and citrus fruits) 5. chewing gum 6.spicy foods 6.carbonated drinks 7. alcohol, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and acidic fruit juice. The book has a four day jumbstart anti-bloat diet in it and they say if it doesn't work you should see your doctor. You should also see your doctor if you are suffering from chronic constipation, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. If you have persistent abd. pain or rectal pain or heartburn. You have lost wt without trying, you have a fever you can't explain or there is blood in your urine. Hope this helps, I just got the book yesterday, so haven't had a chance to try it yet.

K. -- I am the same way! Sometimes it doesn't matter what or how much I eat I am very bloated. I actually read an article in one of those cheep magazines (like First) about a type of yeast infection in the stomach that can cause those symptoms. In fact, every symptom it listed fit me to a T. However... I acidently throw the magaznie away. I do remember that it recommended following a diet called the candida diet as it is candida type of yeast that causes this.

You might google it and see if it helps you at all. I've been too swamped (and tight with money) to go to the health food store to get the supplements that it said to try, but I know all of it made sense.

Good Luck and if you have success let me know since I'm in the same boat, too.

Oh and I've too feared mine was from Ovarian Cancer but have had these symptoms for several years and my PAPs always come back normal.

Hello K.,

Get checked for allergies. for example if you're allergic to ragweeds, dandelions, lettuce, sunflower & safflower are in that group. the 'plantain" group includes psillium (spelling?) used for fiber...so once you know what you're allergic to you'll be able to avoid it and start getting better. (do get checked for celiac's too) Good luck! ~C.~

I would recommend you get screened for celiac disease, which is an intolerance to the protein (gluten) found in wheat, rye, barley and oats. I used to be bloated all the time - looking 4 mos. pregnant after some meals. What happens is that the gluten damages the intestine and you get lots of inflammation, reflected by the bloating. My younger son was so swollen that when he went on the GF diet, he lost two inches off his waist and he was only 8 years old. This disease is the most common genetic disorder and is more common in folks of Northern European descent, but can occur in most anyone. Here's a good overview:
http://www.gi.org/patients/gihealth/celiac.asp
(with bloating mentioned as a symtom).
Also, you should google the problems you have for which are taking other medications as alot of other health issues are actually due to the undiagnosed gluten intolerance (such as most auto-immune diseases include thyroid problems). Noting that 9 out of 10 people that have this disease have not yet been diagnosed (2+ million people in the U.S.)

You should also check on the side effects of your medications. You can find all that online at:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginformation.html

I don't want to be an alarmist, but bloating is sometimes an early symptom of ovarian cancer. This is a cancer that is often not diagnosed until the later stages because the symptoms are so vague and fit other issues. You might ask your gynecologist for a sonogram or a blood test (CA 125 or something like that) to rule it out. My mother-in-law passed away from ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, it wasn't diagnosed until she was at Stage IV, and her main symptom for quite some time was feeling bloated. Again, don't let me alarm you, but I do want to give you a head's up. God's blessings to you, and best of wishes in finding out what the problem is.

Dear K.:

I think that you got great advice, but I just wanted to reiterate about the blood test to check for ovarian cancer. I know a lady with the same symtoms who did not get the simple test with dire consequences. If you haven't already had it, INSIST on it! It may be so many things, but ruling out the posibility of cancer never hurts. :)

The only thing I can think of is, do you have any food allergies? I have several, and when I eat for example tomatoes, I wake up very bloated and have horrible cramps. Sometimes I look as if I am 7 or 8 months pregnant, it gets so bad. I have found that drinking FiberWise helps. It is a fiber supplement that also contains unsoluble fiber that helps clear out the digestive tract rather quickly. Anyway not sure if that is what you are describing, but it sounds very similar to what I experience. I would love to talk more with you. PM me if you would like more information on the FiberWise.
