Looking for good websights for good flight discounts. I heard there are ways to get discounts but now sure how. It seems when you ask for military discounts the prices are higher than regular prices.

What can I do next?

Hi,
you could try www.economytravel.com or go to airline websites directly, they offers deals, which are not available via travel agencies.

Being a GS employee, I travel A LOT. Normally about 4-5 times a year. The military office on base is normally where I start. Two of those trips last year were personal. I was able to fly from Japan to Thailand for 650 round trip. Go to the SATO or ITT office and see what they can offer. (Are there any circumstances that they need to know about? Family member sick etc.? Yes, this sometimes helps.)

Work this office like a new car lot but be very respectful and they will help you. Come back several times to see what they can offer at an all time low. See if there are any military flights available through your TMO or SATO office. The lowest fares I have seen have been through them.

Do you fly often? Do you normally use the same carrier every time? Do you have a skymiles account or frequent flyer account?

Another thing you can try is to find your ticket first but do not buy it. See how much it would cost and ask the mamasource ladies to donate their skymiles to you! Explain your situation if it is an urgent one. You may end up with a free ticket. If this is possible, work with the airline carrier to see how to set this up.

If all else fails, call the airline with a flexible schedule to see what they can offer directly. Normally, I book a year or more out and pay half of the cost of a current ticket. Watch out for German holidays which can conflict with your pricing and your destination's holidays. We have Golden week here right now in Japan. No one in their right mind wants to travel right now here. Almost the whole country takes a vacation around this time.

The best website that pulls everything is Kyak.com

If you are looking for european flights strickly going around europe...ryanair.com has amazingly cheap flights. We live in Germany as well and WE have been using ryanair to fly around to visit other countries while we are here. As for stateside flights...orbitz.com for me has always had the cheepest flight to PA, but that is just my experience.

I went to Sato on our post the other day and was surprised they found me tickets for half the price I was finding on line. If you are traveling alone, have you thought about Space A?

Hi T., I found a website called skyscanner.net, adjust the language to english and pop in the flight details your interested in and it will provide you with the cheapest options and dates available. It's very user friendly, gives you live prices and then directs you to airlines page when you want to book.
Hope this helps. I've used this site for 3 years, and I check it 4 times a week looking for special offers.
Good luck, T..

I hope this helps. In the states, Southwest gives a great discount for military but you cant buy them online you have to call. Also, they allow you to move the flights as often as you need to and they will credit your account if you do not use the ticket. Really nice if you are taking a SpaceA flight.
Air France has some great deals at different times of the month. I flew to the states and back this month for $450.00 a ticket. I enjoyed the flight and they even served childrens portion meals and free Champagne and alcohol. They gave my daughter a bag of toys and even gave me a little kit with helpful stuff in it. You may have to fly through Paris but for such a deal its worth it. Keep checking the website for deals.
Again, I hope this helps and good luck.

The reason that the militart "discout" is always more than the original price is because they give the option to change the dates of flights with no restrictions and no extra fee...basically they add it into the ticket in the first place. There is a pretty good sight called bookingbuddy.com and they search from several other travel agencies all in one. It is worth a shot..Good luck!!!

We looked for a flight to Orlando for July of this year. Surprisingly, SATO was the cheapest of all of the agencies that I tried. The taxes is what really hurts when travelling from Germany. I usually always try US discount travel, ABC travel,ITT, and SATO and compare prices. They are all located in Germany.
