Hi moms:

I was just wondering if you have a favorite website you buy your airline tickets from. There are so many out there and there is way too much information. I have tried Travelocity, Orbits, (Expedia I found a little pricey) etc. I am planning a trip in August but I would like to buy my tickets this week. Any suggetions? I am looking for a package (flight and hotel). What is your absolute favorite websites to buy your tickets and why. Thank you all for your suggestions. It'll help me narrow it down.

So What Happened?

Hi moms, since I was looking for a package I went with Travelocity. After about 3 days of researching, I finally settled for Travelocity, they seemed to have beat everyone else. If I was to buy just a plane ticket (no hotel) I would consider Kayak.com, they seemed pretty good. Thank to all who responded.

HI. KAYAK is good because it pulls info from all the airlines and websites you mentioned. Qixo is good too, but Kayak is better. Good luck!!!

They only have a few destinations but depending on where you are flying out of and where to....they are worth checking into. We used them when we had to fly out to Kansas City, MO for my mother-in-laws funeral. We had to drive 3 hours to Columbus, OH but the price was worth it! We are flying with them again in July. we got tickets for $55 each way! I don't know where you are or where you are going but they are well worth checking into.

I use any of the expedia/orbitz etc then I find the cheapest flight on there. Once i see who has the cheapest flights-i write down who and what flight number then I go to Their site and always find it cheaper! So if on expedia it said AA had my cheapest flight, i would then go to AA.com and find it cheaper!

When I travel I usually travel Soutwest airlines. Go right to their website. The reason I like them is because you can pick your times to fly, whether you want a non stop flight or not and you can pick by price. Some of the other websites only give you a few to pick from. Also Southwest is usually the cheapest. Check both Midway and O'hare. The prices and times will differ.

I recently found a website that I like. Kayak.com. I used it when I bought my plane tickets last month. It gives you the lowest price found from a bunch of different sites. When you choose the tickets you want, it takes you to that site, whether it be Orbits, etc. Mine ended up being directly from American Airlines. Another thing I like about this site it you can look at trends in ticket prices, or look up cheaper dates, if your dates are flexible. And you can get get email alerts if the tickets fall below a certain price.

I don't know where you are going but if it's stateside, go to Southwest.com. I have found that Orbitz, Expedia, etc.. do not have lower airfares than Southwest. It's not First Class, the snacks are okay but you get to where ever you are going for cheap!!!! I would recommend downloading their "Ding" software. I have found some incredible deals through it. You do have to check your computer on & off through the day but it is so worth it!! Good luck to you.

I always go straight to the carrier's website. Depending on where youre flying will determine which airline you will be taking in some cases.

i also like kayak...mostly because you put in your travel dates one time and it searches all the major discount sites. i also go to priceline, it gives you the price for your flight and then lets you put in your own bid to see if the airline accepts it. one more would be hotwire.....i find this one has the cheapest tickets most of the time, especially if your somewhat flexible on the dates.

Frances,
I recently tried cheaptickets.com they were $100.00
cheaper than any other I looked at. Please note if you do check Southwest they only show you the one way fares . Good luck.
