I am 27 weeks pregnant & STILL haven't told my bosses. I tried to give my notice in Oct but they wouldn't accept it. I've worked here for almost 3 yrs & currently have a 10month old who I bring into the office with me everyday (unless the hubby is laid off). I've procrastinated long enough but now am scared to death....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thanks everyone...well, i will go into the office tomorrow & just tell them. i am 100% positive that they do already know but are just waiting for me to say something...i hope everything works out as we had originally planned (going PT from home)....if so - all will be well....if not, i'm sure you'll hear from me again....

OK - so its Monday afternoon and I've told them...funny thing is - they never suspected! But I waited long enough anyway....Thanks for all the responses!

You could send an e-mail if you can't do the face to face thing. If that isn't an option you could always try the suttle approach and put you ultrasound picture on your desk with the calendar date cirled boldly in red. Or like at my Mom's office they did a gift thing durring their brake-a mini shower if you wanted to call it that. Someone came in with balloons. The boss can't be that oblivious to it. If you are really the shy type you could go to whom ever makes the schedule for vacations ect. and put in for your time off, and clearly write for maturnity leave. They have to give it to you. The best thing to do is just do it. Then you won't have the added stess of not saying anything. Congratulations! Enjoy your baby(s)!

This is one of those things where you really don't have a choice. I was scared to death to tell my boss too, but I work in a very small law firm and it would have been noticed that I was getting bigger very quickly. I just asked to speak to my boss privately and then spit it out really fast that I was pregnant and I told him my due date. He was very understanding (at the time 3 out of 8 employees were pregnant....must have been something in the water!). I told him I was going to need 6-8 weeks maternity leave, depending on how close to my due date I delivered. They have no choice but to give you maternity leave (paid or unpaid) and they have to hold your job if you want it back. Good luck, and congratulations!

ummm...I guess I don't understand why it is such a big deal. It's inevitable. Did you try to tell them in October and they ignored you? Well, then too bad for them! The sooner they know, the better. Women have babies, that's a fact of life. More than likely, if you are 27 weeks, they can tell but are waiting for you to tell them, rather than them asking you.

It sounds like you need help! What do you do that they won't "accept" your resignation?

Have you ever considered a home-based business?
