Why Does This Keep Happening?

so, at least 2 or 3 times this week people have been having my responses deleted...i'll get several flowers and when i check to see to which response it will have been deleted...what happened to freedom of speech? i dont say anything threatening, i dont cuss. Why post a question if you dont want to hear what people have to say, or if you just want people to tell you you are right, just say so...it is very frustrating. I have gotten posts that were offensive to me but i dont report them. like it or not, i asked a question and that person gave their advice or opinion and i know going into asking something someone may say something i dont like or goes against my way of doing things. so, have you reported people just because they go against the grain??

What can I do next?

I hope you're feeling better and everything is okay!

I don't think I've ever had an individual response deleted by MamaP. I've been a part of whole threads that have been deleted though. You can always write them and ask why.

No, I don't report people that go against the grain as I am usually one of those people. I only report obvious trolls or spammers.

There are some people who - as Jack Nicholson said - can't handle the truth!

There are some moms on here that, when they post a question, EXPECT all mama's to support them and give them sympathy...and they get all upset when someone else says "nope, you are wrong - sorry"...

I reported the troll last weekend. While some of what she was funny - much was not...it was rude and in poor form. Other than that - no, I do not report....there might be someone out there who needs to hear what someone posted - just because I don't agree or like it - doesn't give me the right to report it...

I've had two posts/questions pulled and maybe a dozen responses pulled for "flaming"....oh well...stuff happens.

I've never reported a post here. I think Mamapedia needs to change their policies on this subject, honestly. Automatic deletion after a couple reports, without review of the post, is hardly fair.

To the people that spend more time with the report button than they do with their husbands, I say, as I've said before, "get a life". We're all adults & if you don't like it, don't read it. And if you only want to read posts that are in alignment with your thoughts or opinions, then, honestly, I feel sorry for those with such closed minds.

I'm a pretty laid back person for the most part... I do have my feisty moments ;) But, I am not vulgar or rude. I embrace all responses. Some make my jaw drop (the people who are blunt with no tact) and some make me see my situation in a new light and some just completely misunderstood my question haha I haven't felt the need to report anybody yet (been with this site since it was mamasource). It is possible that it is not the person asking the question who is deleting/reporting your responses. It actually takes several reports for it to be deleted and who reported it is anonymous. Sounds a little odd to me, but it could very well be a glitch. I agree with contacting the website.

well do you get something from mamapedia about it in your inbox. They deleted something I posted once and I got an email explaining why. So maybe there is some weird glitch and not people flagging you. Ultimately it is mamapedia's decision. I have flagged something before and it hasn't been pulled. So who knows, sounds like something weird to me and maybe not bc of other mamas flagging you. I mean I only flag for like something horrible or degrading etc. Sorry hope it stops happening.

Well I can't speak to your posts specifically, because I haven't read them. I will say that I've seen responses in the past (both to my questions and others') that the commenters would probably refer to as "speaking the truth" or "giving my opinion". But those responses are often completely tactless and rude. It is possible to give a dissenting opinion in a tactful and respectful manner, but many times a person is rude and even downright mean, under the guise of "truthfulness".

(ETA: Ha case in point - I just posted a question about car seats with a genuine concern and desire to do the best thing for my son, and immediately got a response yelling at me for even considering what I was considering, with multiple exclamation points, implying I'm a bad parent, brimming with judgment. I'm sure she thinks she's "speaking the truth" and "giving her opinion", but there are far better - and more mature - ways she could have expressed herself.)

Again, I haven't read your posts so they may not have been anything like that. That's just the general feeling I get from some of the posts here and *may* be the reason some "truth-speaking" posts are deleted.

Lately a lot of questions have been deleted, so along with the questions the responses are no longer. So it may not be just you. It is frustrating, I think in the past week 1-2 of the questions I responded to were deleted, so away went my answers.

I have never reported anything, if it was over the top offensive I might report it but for the most part I just let things be. I can easily let things go, sometimes too easily, so see no need to report.

Very strange, Do you think it could be trollish behavior? That or a glitch as others have suggested. I looked at your answers (that are still up ;-) and didn't see anything that could be considered offensive. I've only reported once or twice, once was a profane troll and the other bashed someone pretty harshly when they were already having a hard time (also may have been a troll). If you know what answers are missing maybe it would be worth it to use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom. If it's Wonky programming the more people who complain the faster they can figure out why it's happening and fix it.

Hi S.T.! Are you sure it's just your response that has been deleted? I have gotten several flowers for responses for entire questions that have been removed. So, it might not be your answers that are being deleted.

I do want to touch of "freedom of speech". With freedom comes responsibility. Mamapedia has guidelines, which is absolutely acceptable. We still have freedom of speech, but so many shun the responsibility to speak kindly and then get mad when their posts are removed.

I once reported a post that simply said, in response to a question, "That's because you're a b*t**!" and then got mad that her post was removed saying "I was speaking the truth and she couldn't handle it!" Good grief, are people so arrogant that they think their opinion couldn't possibly be anything less than the absolute truth?

I am not speaking to you, S.T., because I haven't seen many of your posts, and none that I have seen are unkind, but I am speaking to many women here that don't want to take responsibility for their unkind words. It's not other people's fault that we say unkind things, it's OURS. Regardless of other people's behavior, we can control our own.

I wish I could read your deleted posts, lol! I think in order for something to get pulled, either several people have to report it, or it has to actually be in violation of the rules. If you really don't think your posts broke Mamapedia's rules, then it probably was just a glitch or something.

The only person I've reported was that danged troll from last weekend.

I've seen posts exactly like yours almost every day now.

The people who post the question isn't always the one who reported the post or answers by the way.

I think you and I need to get together. We probably would be great friends LOL. We live very close.

I don't know. It happens to me sometimes too and I've been told many times how rude I am. I just speak my mind and I've tried to temper my answers because I am a Christian and I don't want to lose my testimony or grieve the spirit. But to be perfectly honest...I think a lot of the things I read on this site are so childish and or gross and petty that it just makes me think very unchristian thoughts. It floors me when I read the way so many people think. The selfishness is CRAZY.

happens to some of us all the time... a certain handful of Moms seem to have it out that those who differ their opinions to theirs don't deserve the same rights to voicing their opinions, advice or experiences.
