What Would You Pay a P/T Nanny in Canton/Woodstock Area??

A lady will be watching our son for about 15 hours a week. She didn't give us any rates because she said she didn't know what was normal (she hasn't done this in years). We did decide that we would pay her weekly, and not by the hour. What would be fair for that many hours a week?

I would pay $10.00 an hour, but would have specific things that I would require from the nanny. That would accumluate to about 150.00 per week @ 600.00 a month. It just depends on whether you are going to tax her and deduct it at the end of the year. Most people will take less hourly if they know they won't be taxed. If you are not going to tax her, and you don't need babies laundry done or extra things like that... $8-$9 should be fine. Hope this helps.

Depending upon experience and job responsibilities, the 2006 Atlanta market rates are between $11-$20/hour. In my experience, only full-time positions are salaried. I hope I've helped.... : )

I feel your pain. I just went back to work part time after being home with my little boy for 2 years. I also was a nanny part time last year - the rates are really varied - I kept a little boy for about 10 hours a day and got $40/day - my girlfriend is watching my son for 5 hours a day 2 days a week and I pay her $50 - my neighbor is getting a nanny for her daughter and is paying $50/day for about 9 hours. I just depends on what she is willing to take. If she is just doing it "on the side" and doesnt depend on the money as really needed income then it should be pretty low - if she does depend on it, then you would have to go a little higher. I think atleast $5/hr - which is below min. wage is fair - just run it by her.

Good luck - hope this helps.
