SO...turns out my hubby got me an anniversary band that does not match my wedding band...so he got me a new one of those too! The rings ae gorgeous. I would have been happy with our date time on Monday, but I'm glad that he upgraded my set like he told me would when we got married. But now I'll have the ring we got married with. It's still a nice ring. It's a gold band that has diamonds set in it to match my engagement ring. So what do I do with that ring? Do I get it sized smaller and wear in on a pinky? Do I just put it in the armoire? I know people upgrade sets...I just don't know what they do with the original pieces??
@ Denise - haha! No signs of the old guy, but I'll take him however he comes to me, I love him, even in the bad times! Though it may be harder to be nice at those times!! We actually didn't get to see each other hardly at all and had McD's for a late dinner! We'll celebrate on Monday (we're off and the kids are in school) - but he went over and above on the gifts!
You could always just put it on a chain and wear it as is as a necklace. I know this doesn't really apply, but it's something that a lot of military spouses will do with their husbands' rings while they are away, so that's what I think of when I think of a wedding ring that won't be worn any more (or for a while) but that is still cherished.

A lot of women have the original bands turned into pendants. It could be shaped into a heart and worn on a necklace for instance, or into little earrings. Or you can hold onto it and give it to your daughter/future daughter in law/granddaughter.
Well from my point I would wear it on a chain. Given that it has diamonds
in it, I woul make it a pinky ring. My wedding band has never been off
my finger in 36 years. The original was a simple gold band. When we
renewed our vows after 25 years (I had been critically ill for a while) we
bought Clauddaugh wedding bands. I wear both. Can't really tell I have
two on. My husband wears his the same way and his have never been off
either.
All I could do with mine is put them back in the box they came in when we bought them (yes, I still had them) and put it in my jewelry box. I developed an allergy to them and can't wear them anymore. I wore them on a chain from the time we learned of the allergy until we could replace them. We replaced both my husband and my band (matching bands) and my diamond engagement ring. I've considered getting the diamond reset into something special from the engagement ring but I haven't followed through.
There is a superstition that my mom told me that you never get your wedding band cut or it cuts the marriage. She won't ever have her band resized even though it's not fit her for as long as I can remember.
I would hang on to it and give it to my daughter.
My husband gave me a promise ring before we got engaged. I wear it on a chain around my neck, or on my other hand.
Do you have a daughter? If you do save it for her.
Even with my divorce my daughters were all over the rings I no longer wanted.

I'm divorced. My wedding band sounds similar to yours. A gold band with small diamonds. I'm divorced. I wear it on my right hand some of the time. (as a dinner ring)

You could get it re-made into earrings--I've known people who have done that.

Maybe have it sized larger to wear on your middle finger.
I'm divorced.
My bling is put away for my kids.
They can split the rings or use the diamonds to make something else.
I get them out and wear them every now and then because they're pretty.
But ultimately, they will go to my children.
New rings....how fun!
