What's Your Favorite Mascara?

I generally don't wear makeup, but will be going dancing next weekend. I'm looking for a mascara that won't smudge, and will really make my eyes stand out. I'm not looking to spend -lots- on a high-end brand, but something that I can pick up at a drugstore, Target/Walmart, or even Sally's/Ulta.

I've seen really good reviews for the Spinlash, and was wondering if anyone has tried it.

Should I go with waterproof?

Thanks!
M.

So What Happened?

Thanks, Ladies! I knew I could count on you.

Based on all the recommendations I had for L'Oreal Voluminous, I picked some up. Because I tend to sweat a LOT when I dance, I was at the beach, and I rarely wear mascara (so I don't have to worry about frequently trying to take it off), I opted for the waterproof. I looked FABULOUS, and not once resembled a raccoon!!

Per Krystal's recommendation, I used the Neutrogena Makeup Remover wipes, and they worked GREAT!

Thanks, again!
M.

I have been using Loreal Paris Voluminous Waterproof.
I have been using the same mascara for years, and refuse to go with anything else, it doesnt flake or smudge. And because it is waterproof and a little harder to get off I use the Neutrogena towlette make up removers, they take off the mascara no problem and are not in the slightest oily.

M.,
I have to tell you that I am a self-described make-up junkie. Always have been, always will be. I live for places like Sephora and Ulta and I spend a somewhat embarrassing amount of money on beauty products! :) That being said, though, my all-time favorite mascara is L'oreal Voluminous. I've been using it since the 90's. I have tried everything out there, from the expensive to the not-so-expensive and it is still my favorite after all these years. I don't really care for waterproof mascara (unless it is warranted by a day at the beach or the pool). HTH!

I have the most sensitive eyes so the only mascara I use is from Origins and Lancome. Since you generally don't wear makeup, I would go to a department store to try them out or even Mary Kay. I have heard good things about their products. I wore before kids, Lancome's mascara to go out dancing and I never had a problem with it. Good Luck!!!

NO to Waterproof. VERY difficult to get off and sometimes painful if you don't have makeup remover.

I second L'Oreal Voluminous. I've tried MANY different brands for years and always go back to Voluminous - very black. It's affordable, usually under $6 at Walmart or Target.
It goes on easy and washes off easily.

Another one I recommend that I didn't see listed for you is the Maybelline Stilletto (sp?). It's a little more than the L'oreal, around $10 I believe but works good too.

Good luck and have fun dancing.

Maybelline Full N Soft (black w/silver top)makes my lashes look so long and full, they do have it in waterproof but it is so hard to get waterproof mascara off. I don't think you will need that if you're just going dancing. It's $5 or $6 at any store.

When you decide on a brand, it would be wise to wear it a few days ahead of time, so that your eyes can adjust to it.
I wear Cover Girl, and each time I get a new tube, my eyes water a day or 2, off and on, adjusting to the new wand.
Also you might consider going to a department store (if you have one near by) and have one of the cosmetic counters do your make-up, since this sounds like a special occasion:)
As for mascara removal, I have used baby oil for years, and never had any eye problems with it...and the bottle last forever:)

I use and sell Mary Kay and I absolutely love their Ultimate Mascara. It will lengthen your lashes and won't smudge. We also carry a Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. It will get off any mascara even over the counter "Stay on mascaras". I work from home and have some in stock if you are interested or if you would like a consultant closer to you go to www.maykay.com and do the consultant finder. It will pull up the closest consultant to you with stock. I've tried many over the counter and I haven't found one that compares to the MK brand. Even if you don't get the mascara from MK you should get the Eye Makeup Remover. You should never use a baby oil or soap and water to take off your makeup. You could rick clogging a tear duct or burning your eyes. And you should NEVER under no circumstances go to sleep with eye makeup or any makeup on. Not only does it age your skin 15 days but bed bugs love makeup. Let me know if you have any questions. I've now been selling makeup for 8 years. And have fun at your dance.

I use Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume and I like it. I usually put on two coats which means I let it dry for a few (around 5-7)seconds before you apply again. What's important is that you curl your lashes first. I've found that nothing makes more of a difference in your lashes than curling them before you apply mascara. Also, if you will be perspiring a lot regular mascara might smudge, I do suggest waterproof mascara. Not putting on too much on bottom lashes also helps with smudges. If not, don't use waterproof because it is harder to take off. Have fun dancing!

The only mascara I will use is Avon Washable Waterproof mascara - it doesn't smudge, doesn't flake or rub off - but washes off with just soap and water (no make up remover required). I love it! I have used it for around 10 years if not longer. (and NO I don't sell Avon!)

ALL mascara smudges if you rub your eyes, period.

I like full'n'soft waterproof best, because I have really full lashes, and it's one of the few wands that doesn't give me "spike lash".

I use waterproof because I'm constantly putting drops in my eyes, and it keeps it from streaking. But waterproof mascara is difficult to remove.

I don't know about Spinlash, but I definitely wouldn't go with waterproof. It is too difficult to get off and h*** o* your eyes. You should use something that is easy to remove so you reduce any tugging or pulling or scrubbing on the eye lids. They do make make-up remover, but then you have to spend more money than just buying the mascara. Money here and money there adds up.

unless you have a good waterproof makeup remover.... i don't know what that is though. I do not like water proof make up because i can not get it off. I have been happy with revlon pink and green top/bottom logo.

Maybelline Great Lash.

I have tried so many different times over the years...from the cheapest to some of the most expensive. From the "good-for-you" brands to the "bad-for-you" brands. I ALWAYS some back to Great Lash. Nice finish...great price...stays put all day long. It's easy on contact lens wearers too if that is an issue.

I think one of the greatest things about it is that it's easy to throw it out... You are only supposed to keep mascara for about 3 months due to bacteria, drying out, etc. Great Lash gets the job done and at the price it is I don't mind tossing a tube out every three months!

I don't like waterproof, it always seems too hard to get off. I started using Rimmel Extra Super Lash after a recommendation and really like it! I have also used Almay (don't remeber the name) and liked it.

Bareminerals. It is not waterproof but when you swim it does not run down your face. It is easy to remove and light. All natural and no fillers. Sells at Ulta Cosmetic, online, and etc.

I have really oily lashes that mascara, even waterproof, slides off. I've discovered Maybelline's XXL, which has an undercoat in addition to the color. I use the waterbase and I no longer look like Alice Cooper by noon. It works very well for me and I don't have to deal with the gook waterproof mascara becomes.
Have fun!

I've been wearing Maybelline waterproof mascara in brownish black for as long as I can remember. Try the Full and Soft for a very natural look.
