Best Non-flaky Waterproof Mascara for Watery Eyes?

My mom called and asked me to post this "on that mom's website you're always talking about." (I love this website and talk about y'all all the time).

So she knows she is going to change mascaras. She wants to know from real people (y'all, NOT a commercial or some paid celebrity) what truly is the best Waterproof Non-Flaky Mascara. She currently uses "CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof." She has one eye that waters often, and she finds that the mascara washes off and makes a black shadow under that eye, yet the other eye looks great. Also, she complains that she will see flakes of mascara on her face under both eyes.

So what's the best out there?
THANKS in advance!

It's Been a long time since I've used waterproof but I love Lancome's mascara. I use the hypnose non waterproof. My eyes water and it doesn't run. I can go swimming and as long as I don't rub eyes it does run bad at all. Expensive but well worth it. My eyelashes don't fall out or break like when I use "cheap" mascara

Hi Jess!
I am a mascara girl. and by far, when it comes to the more affordable mascaras, I am a L'Oreal Voluminous X4 fan. The stuff stays. I cannot stand mascara that clumps up, giving you 5 triangle-shaped lashes. And this is the one to use.

When it comes to non-economical brands, I will use Lancome above all else. It is my opinion that their mascaras and wands are the best in the universe.

Have a great day and lots of pretty winks. ;)

I'm a huge fan of the one she uses. I go swimming in it, no problems. I actually have a tough time getting it to come off and have to wash my face a few times so I don't have the residual.

Perhaps she needs to put a few coats on to prevent it from flaking. That's what I do, and I have had no problems.

I have the same problem as your mom, I can't wear regular mascara because my eyes start to tear which makes my mascara run and burn my eyes. The best one I've found is Dior Show Waterproof Mascara. My eyes never burn or get teary from it, and if I do tear I get no smudging ever. I like that I can really layer it on and I've often had women come up to me and ask where I got my lashes done, whether they are mine or am I wearing false lashes because they are so full and long. It also never flakes. I keep trying different mascaras but I always keep coming back to the same one. Dior Show Waterproof is still the best by far.

I have used Maybeline Full and Soft Mascara for years. I have tried other ones, but always thrown them away after the first use. It does not flake, it does not run, and it makes your eyelashes looks way fuller without hardly looking like you have mascara on at all!

I use L'Oreal Stiletto Volumtious Waterproof. My eyes water constantly, and it never runs or flakes. Love it!

Lancome Defeniciles (I am certain I did not spell that right) but it is good and there is also a trick you can do to keep the flakes from sticking to your skin. I think you are supposed to dust powder under and around your eyes - but it has been so long since I cared to wear makeup I have forgotten. With 4 little ones at home and not working anymore I think I might get my makeup on once a week to go to church and sometimes not even then : ) Good luck on your search.

I use Full n Soft waterproof. I don't get flakes at all (have from some), but after about 14 hours I DO get smudge on my lower lid. 9pm every day I'm fine. 10pm and the smudge appears.

I've always used Loreal Voluminous. I can't say that it has never flaked but I can't think of a time that it has (and I have swam with it on before). Has she thought about dying her eyelashes (it's really pretty cheap to have done) and then using a clear mascara for thickening and curling?

I seem to always use Cover Girl make up. I have used Lash Blast in the past (waterproof) and disliked it for the flakyness. I then switched to Mabelline (sp?) Lash Stiletto (also waterproof). I really liked it. It has a totally different feel than the others I've used in the past. However, the last tube I bought must have been old, or something. It didn't last anytime before it dried up and seemed flaky as I was putting it on. So, the last time I bought mascara, I went back to Cover Girl. I meant to get the lengthening one that is similar to the Stiletto. But, accidentally ended up with the Lash Blast again. Once again, it's flaky. I am not going to buy another tube of it. I will go back to the Lash Stiletto, but buy it from a store that does more volume with their make up as I thought the last tube was old.

I use only Maybelline mascara. I have used it for many many years and have no reason to change. Good luck.

I use Maybelline Great Lash waterproof mascara also and it works really well. I use it when we go to the beach or water parks and I use the regular Maybelline great lash the rest of the time.

I like the Maybelline products so much better than CoverGirl especially when it comes to mascara, I always find the CoverGirl to flake as well.

Hands down, without a doubt, the best mascara on the market is Lancome Definicils! I use the non-waterproof and have very watery eyes and still it does not come off. Best part is it does come off easily when I was my face at night. It'll run you about $25.00 but is so worth it!! Tell your Mom to go to any Lancome counter and usually they have small samples she can try before buying. My sister used to work for Lancome and she got me hooked on it!

Good luck to your mom in finding the perfect product! Here's what I posted in my "What Happened."

Based on all the recommendations I had for L'Oreal Voluminous, I picked some up. Because I tend to sweat a LOT when I dance, I was at the beach, and I rarely wear mascara (so I don't have to worry about frequently trying to take it off), I opted for the waterproof. I looked FABULOUS, and not once resembled a raccoon!!

Per Krystal's recommendation, I used the Neutrogena Makeup Remover wipes, and they worked GREAT!
