Thank you ladies!! Went to a department store last night, I smelled so many of them there and got few samples as well... I have been wearing Cartier 'Baiser Vole' through out the year and also Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue during summer time. I found Acqua Di Giola from Giorgio Armani very appealing to me. I like Creed perfume, but it is way expensive for fragrance ($260), don't you think? Prada Candy is good as well....I usually like light scented perfume, sleek, and modern. Hopefully, I can make a decision soon.

Truth or Dare by Madonna. I got it for Christmas last year and I can't tell you how many compliments I get on it! It smells like gardenias - it's amazing!! It's also one that not everybody has (I noticed nobody suggested it and I have yet to find anyone else wearing it!

I still like Chanel #5. I alternate between that and another one that they don't make anymore. Enjoy the shopping!

Right now:
I like Jo Malone's "orange blossom."
Nordstrom, or Neiman's or online has it on the Jo Malone website.
Also like Prada Candy. Ditto Riley J. below.
Also like Chanel "Cristale."

I used to love White Shoulders and got many compliments on it. Then I crashed with multiple chemical sentitivities. Since then, almost all forms of fragrance make me ill, even completely unfunctional.
That's because almost all perfumes and colognes contain ingredients that are toxic, to some degree, to everyone, but most of us are still able to detoxify those ingredients in our bodies (our livers, among other organs, perform this critical function).
I hope you lovely women out there who can wear fragrance will use a light touch, for your own safety and those around you. Otherwise, you drive people like me out of public spaces with your pretty smells. I've had to leave restaurants, movies, weddings and church services when highly perfumed people enter the room.

i have some custom blended ones that i adore, not just for their fragrances but their names and descriptions- vampire garden (blood orange- based), burlesque (frankincense with hints of coffee) and stretched out on your grave (the description reads 'cheerless white blossoms with cold green apple and desolation.) i also love passion, beautiful and a bermuda oleander perfume.
i have to remind myself not to be one of 'those' women. i do love perfumes. my younger son had a talk with me a few years ago. 'you smell wonderful, mom, but in a closed space you make our eyes water.'
thank all the gods for honest kids!

I have a BIG passion for oils. Which I do wear daily. Sweet Orange, Lavender, Clove, Cinnamon, Patchouli and Eucalyptus.
I find the oils at Health food stores or in the health food section at bigger stores.
Lavender is my hands down favorite. Fresh, soft and not too over powering.
I can still smell my moms Shalamar(spelling)...It is all she has worn for 30 years:)

I wear a lot of different ones by mood, these are my favorites
- Prada (old, not new formula HATE the new formula)
- Prada Candy
- Bvgari
- Bvlgari Jasmine Noir Essence
- Kenzo Amour
- Spice Bomb
- Chanel Egoiste
- Nada but soap & clean skin
Here's the thing: Everyone's scent profiles are different. I strongly urge you to go to a good fragrance dept and find what your favs are (oriental, floral, musk, etc.), and then get 7 or 8 samples to wear at home and find which ones you like best.

I used to wear perfume every day, but then I developed allergies to fragrances. So occasionally I'll put some on my hair where it can't touch my skin. :-)
I've worn Chloe Narcisse for 15 years. It still turns noses :-) and people ask me about it nearly every time I wear it. It's a wonderful, soft scent.
I also love Philosophy's Baby Grace. It smells exactly like wild honeysuckle in the late spring. It's extremely light and lovely.
ETA: My grandma wore White Shoulders. Every time I smell it, memories of her come rushing back. I can't wear it though...it doesn't work for my body chemistry.

My current favorite three are Coach Poppy (the pink one), Vera by Vera Wang and DKNY Verbena by Donna Karan. Beautiful, light scents.
Older classic scents I love are Romance by Ralph Lauren or Pleasures by Estee Lauder

White shoulders? Lol that has to be the worst name for a fragrance EVER!! May as well call it chronic dandruff.
I love "O" de lancome, it smells like you have dipped yourself in lemon juice, if you like citrus you will love it, it's expensive though.
I also love Tresor, also by lancome, it reminds me of gold.
Cool water is a standby, its very sporty smelling.
I also have some John Paul Gaultier, I can't remember what it's called, but the bottle is shaped like a lady in a red dress.

I usually try to keep three on hand.
1. frankensence oil when I want to be earthy or to go to sleep--its dreamy
2. Halston for night
3. Opium for day
I am glad that you posted this. My glamorous/fabulous neice (no HS diploma...) laughs that I still use Halson and Opium and tells me they are outdated. I ask her how can a fragrance/smell be outdated (vanilla extract, flowers, cake baking)... ???
I am so glad to not be in a state of mind where I am ruled by "whats in vogue!"

My favorite for the last three years has been Dolce Gabbana's The One. My grandson picked it out and everyone likes it on me so I continue to wear it. In fact I have to get a new bottle this month. The other fragrance I wear is White Linen by Este Lauder. As another poster mentioned Cinnabar I too became allergic to it and that was my go to scent.

"strawberries and champagne" from Victoria's Secret Garden (although they don't call it "secret garden" anymore, but the fragrance is still the same, just the collection is called something else) it is my all-time favorite, but i mostly use the body spray and lotions.
i got some Tommy Hilfiger "True Star" one year for christmas and LOVED it too.
i think the key is finding something that works for you - everyone's body chemistry is different.
and um...there's nothing wrong with wearing a scent. obviously you don't want to bathe in it- but that is common sense and i'm sure you don't need to be lectured on that, nor do most of us lovely women.
Philosophy......Amazing Grace and Pure Grace. Very light scents that smell AMAZING!

My favorite perfume for the past 20+ years has been Sung by Alfred Sung. I also really like Lady Million, and Glo these days. I do like to try different fragrances. If you want to try out new things, you might want to check out myperfumesamples.com. You can order small vials for a couple of bucks, wear the perfumes first to see what you like before purchasing an expensive bottle :)

Not a big fragrance wearer but have recently discovered my favorites-too bad they are priced ridiculously. They are called Bond and my Nordstrom just started selling them. Each fragrance is after a different aspect of New York City-I guess they started there as a specialty store. Over $200 bucks a bottle though! I do like their scents more than most others though which just figures :-)
Otherwise I like Jo Malone and Dot. But I also really like the White Musk from the Body Shop.
