i am going to order a spring jacket for my daughter through amazon. she is 14 yr old, super duper skinny and is about 5'3 tall. she weighs around 100 lbs. i wonder if a size 16 junior would fit? thoughts?
yeah, i am not going to order it. i am afraid i will order the wrong size. i looked at her jackets this morning when i left the house and all they say is L, but just to make sure, i will just go to the store and get her one. this is for Easter, so i dont want her to know to much. thanks mamas!
16 juinor? If it's junior it should be teen or adult. It would be a large or xl.
My daughter is about that and she is wearing a junior small or md
size 16- way too big. If it is a junior size maybe a 5 at most...
I am an adult.. 115 lbs, 5'5" and I where between a 5-7 in juniors clothes... and a 3-4 in womens...

PS- that is in AMERICAN juniors sizes... if it is from asia or europ it is best to pull out a tape measure and go by the size chart!
Measure her and go by the chart. That's the only way to shop for clothes if she's not there to try it on.

I'm 5'4 and 100 pounds. I wear an x-small - small in juniors. A 16 would be HUGE on me!! The L you are seeing, could be a L in girls. I can fit into a L in girls usually. Stick to smalls, or size 0-4.
I'm 5'2" and 115 lbs. Size 16 junior would be huge. (I'm a size 3 in juniors). Now, a size 16 in girls, would probably work. (I'm about a size 14 in girls). Or order a size 0 in women's.
I am about 5'2" and weigh about 120. A 16 junior fits me.
Usual sizes in girls wear:
Small girls 6-7
Medium 8-10
Large 12-14
X-large or Pre-teen 16
A girls size 12-14 is about the same size as a ladies x-small or small. The women's item will often have a fuller bust but not by much, if it's a swim suit or leotard the leg opening will have a high cut, french cut, opening. The arm holes may be larger too.
A girls X-large, 16, or Pre-teen size is the same as a ladies small or medium. Again the holes for arms and legs will probably fit a bit differently but it will often look just the same if they were to try it on.
My granddaughter is on the perfoming team at the gym and they had a leo that has been discontinued. The owner had a few new ones still left but they were for older girls in ladies small and medium. I took the small the barely took a seam in the hips to narrow it down and the another small seam under the arm. She is 8 and wears a size 7slim girls jeans. So a ladies small fit her almost.
The sizes are interchangable. We like to think that they move up step by step but they don't. Shoes don't even do that.
A girls shoe sized 4 fits me comfortable and I wear a 7 ladies. They make them in a size but they are only shoes that are more appropriate for a girls style of dress. Check it out for yourself. Try on your girls shoes once they hit the size 4,5,6 of girls shoes, in the shoe department, not the ladies area but the girls. They are interchangeable.
I have one lady who is tall and built very nicely. She came in one day and had one a really nice leather skirt. It was a pencil style cut. I mentioned it was very nice and she told me it was a girls 12-14. Her girls and she had been trying on clothes and she accidentally tried it on, it fit so she bought it. She normally wore a adult woman's size small.
That sounds huge! My older daughter only wore a 14 at that age and she was already 5'6. I am not actually sure that 14 was a junior size either. I think it was girls 8-16 department
I would order a women's small or petite or get a much smaller juniors size, I wore either a 7 or 9, I was/am 5'2" & weighed about 115 when I was that age, my oldest Grandaughter is 4'11" & never has weighed over 101 she wears a size 0-2 sooooooooo in doing my math I am thinking a size 5-7 should be good. Check & see if they have some kind of chart you can use.
16 Jr is like a 12/14 in womens.
