And no--there's NO excuse for that.
Those Marines absolutely knew, when they were doing it, that it was WRONG and against their code.
My husband is a Marine.
The marines were fully aware of the possible consequences for that type of behavior.
Now they're going to get the consequences.
In no way do those 4 Marines represent the rich history of or the behavior expected of the USMC.
The consequences will be swift and severe. More so than if they were in a regular court.
That's the chance they took.
No matter the "stress" they were under....not only was it inappropriate to videotape it, it was inappropriate to DO it. Cameras or not. If another soldier had reported it, they would be in the same position they are in right now.
Unbecoming behavior. Not unbecoming behavior because it was videotaped.
Gotta wonder about the IQ of those particular marines. :(

can you imagine the stress those Marines are under? My nephew served 4 tours in Iraq and has shrapnel in his back STILL from those days.

Was it inappropriate to video tape it? yes.

I don't take enough pictures or video. My pictures focus on my family. So unfortunately, I don't have any. Darn!!!

I'll give a funny answer!

I went to Puerto Rico for a friend's wedding. One of my friends brought to a guy as her date - they were sort of seeing each other. We had never met him (they also flew in for the wedding but from another town). He was super fun to hang out with and we all got along fabulously. He was very successful but had a very immature sense of humor - and we all loved it.

So my friend flew home with us and he went his own way for work. So when she developed her photos from the wedding, he had taken her camera into the bathroom with him and took (close up) photos of him peeing. Before the pee, mid-stream, and after. Also, he took photos of himself laughing.

I'm sure some people would think - how inappropriate - but we were rolling. It was such a surprise to see these photos in the pile.
