hi moms, my boston terrier got a tick on her and it was up under her belly so we didnt see it for a couple days:( well i was wondering what i can give her to build her blood back up??? the tick got some blood out of her,i just dont want her feeling weak are anything....thank you so much
One tick won't affect her blood levels and you don't need to do anything. If she starts acting lethargic or sick then you need to take her to a vet. She could have contracted a tick borne illness. But in my 20 some odd years of dog ownership I've seen lots of ticks but not once an illness stemming from it, so you are probably just fine.
The blood is not an issue - it's a miniscule amount, and her body will naturally replace it just like humans do after donating an entire pint of blood in a donation center.
The problem with tick bites is Lyme disease - have your dog tested by your vet. If she tests positive, the vet can prescribe medication. If she's negative, no problem.
FYI,
It takes 48 hours for the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi (B. burgdorferi) to wake up and transmit the Lyme disease into the bitten person/pet. So if you can remove the tick within that time you and you pet should be ok and not get Lyme disease. And not all ticks carry the disease. The best thing to do is watch for symptoms. Our dog contracted Lyme disease. No bulls-eye showed up but she acted as if her joints were in pain—no running, difficulty walking up steps. Our son presented in the same way a few months after the tick was removed. So it's best to check everyone in the family on a daily basis. Ticks are out now, even in New England where it's still chilly.

Talk to your vet if you are concerned, but I think one tick on a dog won't hurt her much. I'd be more concerned about the deer ticks you might not have seen that could give her disease. Is she on a flea and tick preventative?
just pull the tick out and do not worry....
One tick shouldn't hurt her and didn't take much blood.
Talk to the vet about what to look out for - I can't remember the tick-borne diseases but ask....I believe everything will be fine.
One tick won't drain her of any harmful amount of blood. You should take her to the vet to make sure the tick is completely out and get her checked for Lyme's Disease.

I'm sure she'll be fine.... Our beagle had one in her ear last year and we caught it late too. She was just fine once we removed it. You could always call your vet and ask...

Please have the vet check her for Lyme disease. I had two dogs get this disease and it's awful. I even use K9 advantix and it didn't help. If your dog does get Lyme disease they will put her/him on antibiotics. Mine had almost 1500 mg of antibiotics for a month.

You don't have to do anything except give her some extra L. and treats and make sure the tick is removed completely. You don't need to "build her blood back up."
