Like them./don't like them? Why or why not? Do you have one? Do you want one or regret getting it? The concept is very new to me and I am not sure what I think about them. My friend wants to get one together.

What can I do next?

18 and under (or Steven Tyler) = Trendy/Sassy
19 and over = can't/won't take you seriously. You are trying way to hard.

I equate them to silly bands. Kids do stuff like this. Go to the spa together get mani/pedis and a beautiful cut. Have tea or champagne.

I think they are soo cute. I plan on seeing if my beautican has them when I call to make my next appointment. If not I will go buy one and have her put one in. I am thinking hot pink! I have three boys so I never have enough pink in my life!

Young girls/teenagers, sure, it's cute. On someone over 20, you look like a fool. I am often surprised when I see a classy woman in a business suit, and oops, there's a bring pink feather in her hair! I can't imagine what they'll think when they see a picture of themselves 5 years from now.

My thought is, if you are under the age of 18, then 'whatever.' If you are an adult , then no not a good idea (unless you are the one in a million who actually PUT the extensions on people and you do it on yourself to 'advertise.') I think they are very juvenile looking. But that's just my opinion.

Funny, I just saw a woman at Costco that had one in her hair and all I could think was, "she looks too old to carry that off" and she appeared to be in her 20's. My daughter is 13 and thinks they are cool which for her age and older teens I agree. I can't explain it, some fashion trends are to be left to the very young.

I would never want one for myself, although my 7 year old daughter has one with some really thin strings of tinsel attached. It's so cute on her! She absolutely loves it. Her hair is pretty long and thick, so sometimes it's noticable and sometimes it's hidden.

My kids' friends have them and I think they are a cute trend. My kids are 6 and 7. I don't think I would get one as an adult... they seem geared more toward young girls, teens etc...

I'm 50....and thought they were quite cute on the teenage girls this summer. Then.....I saw one on an older mom at our 1st day back to school and someone else asked if she was also into pole dancing...??

So I wonder if there is an immediate association between the two???

You can hardly tell they are there. Do they wash like normal? How does one brush their hair?

Not my thing, but they can be cute on the right person, who has the right fashion sense. I would just feel dorky & awkward with one.

Why does she want one? Because everyone else is doing it? I stopped doing that years ago. I prefer to be my own person now.

My daughter got one and it looks really cute on her. She got the really thin feathers. There are three. Two match her haircolor with a little accent, and one is teal for ovarian cancer in memory of my aunt. We asked a lot of questions and found out that you should get the one with the bead and no glue because the bead can be removed easily with pliers, but the glue is much harder. We didn't like the big feathers, they just looked like too much.
I agree with the others who said this is more of a trend for teens and not so much for adults. I think you would really have to have a certain personality and style to pull it off as an adult, and not many have that.

For kids... it is really the 'thing' now.
My 8 year old daughter got one as a gift.
It is still on her head.
1 month later.
Its cute.
She likes it.
That's fine.

You brush your hair with a brush that does not have those "balled" ends. It will get caught in the silicone 'bead' in which the feather is glued into and onto the hair.
My daughter just washes and brushes her hair, like normal.
Not brushing the feather itself.

Fisherman, are upset, because now all the hair salons are buying up the feathers... and the feathers comes from a particular type of chicken.... and thus, the inventory of it, is not infinite.

But there are many different kinds of feathers.
If you look on E-bay, they have TONS, and the kits for it.

In my neck of the woods, getting it at a salon, costs about $10.
And it is a quick process. Just minutes.

Also cute and what little girls/girls like, are "Hair Tinsel." Easy to put on. It is just slip knotted into the hair, like on 3 strands, at the base of the scalp.
E-bay has Hair Tinsel.
My daughter had that too. As a gift from a relative.

I have a friend who started doing them before anyone had ever seen them. She bought this huge lot of feathers and when she got them, she realized what they were...so she went out and bought the feathers herself and made her own. She then started putting them in friends hair. I never got one, but I thought they would be cute for a day or two...then they'd probably get annoying.

Anyway, when celebrities started wearing them she went from charging $10/feather to $75/feather. The girl made a killing!

My 16 yr old had 3 for a while until they came out. It was about $30 to have them put in. They are out now and just stayed protected in case she wants them back in sometime.

Most of the cheerleaders had them. It was pretty much a thing they did from the end of school until now. I don't think many girls have them anymore at school. They were a passing fad.

How old are are you? They are pretty much a teen thing. Personally, I would not put them in because I am not trying to relive my childhood and I prefer to be taken seriously. They don't appear very professional.

BUT, it is your hair so you do what you want to.

Hmmm...I'm still forming my opinion since this is the first time I've heard of them and had to look them up:-) On some of the people, it looked somewhat interesting. But some it looked really bad.

Overall, I think I don't like them. It seems very much a fad. And, I guess I'm not a fan of feather extensions. I do think it's possible for it to look interesting, but it's just not my cup of tea. I'd be more tempted to get real hair extensions if I were to do anything...not feathers.

I am a hairstylist. The roosters are genetically bred for these feathers. They are plucked to death for a fashion. The feathers are originally used as fishing bait, but because the supply for that is relatively low, the roosters are able to be kept alive for a few feathers to be plucked without killing the animal. Supply of a fashion trend is causing an uproar in the fishing community, and countless animals to die for hair. So, I really get disgusted when I see the hair feathers. I know there are now synthetic feathers that still looks and feels quite real and that is okay by me, but I would still feel like it would be urging a trend.

If you want something cute and fun, go get a colorful weft (a small clip in color of hair). You can even get a pretty blonde or colorful piece.

I think that they are great for the younger crowd as well as for celebs, Steven Tyler is the only over 30 that I know that can pull it off. My thing about them is that they are real feathers taken off of real birds and fishermen are pissy about it b/c they are having to pay more for them (already expensive) and not able to access them as easily due to our fashion choices. So, I think they are cute on young girls and those in the right industry but for every day soccer moms and professionals probably not so much.

I think its gross. Who wants a bird feather in their hair. Especially feathers from the birds behind.

There is a mom who brings her kids to PT at the same time as my daughter and she has at least 5 of them, and they look ridiculous.
