There are indeed from lack of calcium. Have her drink more milk or take a calcium suppliment. Other than that they are harmless.

I have heard that they come from being calcium deficient at some time in the past. I do not know how true that is but I have had several people over the years tell me that.

I know it sounds weird but I've been told they are bruises.

its deffintly need of calcium and vitamin to get rid of them accsess more calcium and vitamin in her dailey meals if that dosnt work go ask her peadiatrician and he will tell you what to do

I don't know the cause, but you should consult the doctor. If it is a calcium deficiency, you need to make sure your daughter is getting enough. Calcium is CRUCIAL to young woman as their bones develop. It helps build strong bones and helps prevent osteoporosis later in life. Get on it!

I have a lot of them too. I've heard all kinds of theories, including calcium deficiencies, etc... but the one I believe is that they are bruises. I'm pretty klutzy and I don't always remember banging my fingers but, every once and a while, I'll smash a fingertip painfully enough to remember and when the nail grows out, sure enough, I have another white mark.

It is true that it's possibly a calcium deficiency, but you can also get those from drumming your fingernails on a hard surface a lot. That's how I used to get them. Try increasing her calcium intake and if they disappear then you have your answer. Good Luck.

Those white things on children's nails disappear with time. I don't know what they are called but they are harmless. Don't worry.
