My sister and I were wondering what services there are out there that offer childcare services for people going on vacations and the normal rates. We are looking for someone to come into the house and stay with the kids all week long. Also, if anyone has had any great / horrible experiences with a service or nanny all would be appreciated.

I used to travel a lot for work. Many times I took my son with me and used the services provided by the hotel. The sitters were all bonded, had security checks, first aid and CPR. They would take him swimming, do arts and crafts, play outside, etc. I would call one of your local hotels and find out about who they use and work from there. When I was traveling and left my son at home, I had several friends that were willing to get him to and from his daycare and have him overnight. Of course, you need to trust these folks implicitly with your darlings.
I hope it all works out for you,
S.

It's hard enough to trust people we know let alone complete strangers. There are to many bad people out there & you cannot put all your faith in an agency to do all the proper background checks, child predators can slip through the cracks. Please reconsider your options with finding someone to watch the children for an entire week 24/7.

I do not have any services that I could recommend. I would just say to be VERY careful with something like this. Do you have any other family or friends that could take on this role that you trust. Although I supposed it depends on the ages of your kids. Just be very weary of someone you do not know. If your kids are younger I would for sure have them over quite a few times with you home and also while you are out before you go on any tirp. Good luck!

How old are your kids? This is going to be quite expensive. I would call a nanny agency and hire a nannny taht is in between jobs. But really this is going to cost a ton of $ as they are to be paid for all their time, including at the minumum a reduced rate as they sleep

I have seen ads on sitercity.com for people looking for week long childcare. We used people from our church that we knew to watch our children when we were out of town.

You could try Lakeshore Nannies. I was a nanny long ago and went through them to get a family to work for. They have a great screening process. They have a website. I believe it is lakeshorenannies.com. Good luck

C., I would suggest possibly checking with your church and seeing if there are any daycare providers who would be willing to do it. College age kids are great for this if they are old enough / responsible enough. I agree with the other posters about not leaving your kids with a complete stranger. However you may want to interview and start getting to know some sitters so that next time this isn't an issue as you will have had time to ge tto know them. another poster suggested the hotel sitters. we have had good and bad experience with that. the best one was in jamaica of all places. my son loved the girls who did the sitting for us at the hotel there. the sitter at the hotel in florida not so much
