Waterproof Pad to Put on Sofa

My daughter is potty training and this weekend we are making the jump to underwear. I bought the training underwear with the vinyl covers, but I was hoping to put a pad on the sofa in her playroom just in case she has an accident. I have the Babies R Us pads, but I don't know if they will handle the volume if she has an accident. Does anyone know a really good absorbent pad? I would need 2 good ones to cover the sofa. I'd rather stay away from disposable pads because I think they are wasteful.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

When she is in our family room, she is not allowed on her furniture, and really she doesn't go on her sofa in her playroom, but since I'm not in there all the time, I wanted to protect them just in case. I would love to have her run around with no underwear on, but she completely freaks out, and since it took us so long to get her back on the potty after he 18 month old freak out, I don't want to give her any reason to regress again. She did wonderful today going on the potty. Once we get her to empty her bladder when she goes potty, I think the accidents will subside a lot. I really like the idea of the covers for pets, I never thought about those, and my look into the price. It will also help with our dog when he comes running in from outside. Thanks for all the advice.

Target or WalMart have pads in the baby sheet area that is 2x4 feetish that feels just like a sheet but has a waterproof backing and lies flat on top of whatever you are trying to protect, it doesn't move and is great. It is not like those horrible plastic, crunchy, make you sweat things! If I can find mine, I will look for the name brand and send you a message.

The mattress saver or mat is made by Priva, it works awesome! I hope you are able to find one.

When I was potty training my kiddos, I didn't make them wear any pants during the day and that meant they were not allowed to sit on the couches with a bare bottom. That is just gross, no matter if it's a kid or an adult. I tried using the pants you are using for your child and I found that my kiddos preferred to pee in their pants because of the warmth and comfort of the training pants. Once I removed them, and they ran around naked, the urge to pee and NOT pee on the floor made it easier to train them. Yes, the disposables may be "wasteful" but so is washing a bunch of absorbent pads. My opinion may or not be helpful, but I say keep the kiddo off the sofa until potty training has been mastered.

You could use those plastic fitted sheets that are for beds - just fit and tuck it in, and then cover with another sheet or pad for comfort?

Just keep her off the sofa.
Bare behind means you sit on the floor on a towel.

Have you thought about maybe buying a pet pad? Not the piddle pads that you potty train dogs on, but the blanket kind of thing that you put over a sofa or a car seat to protect it from the dog hair, dirt and slobber. ?

Just a thought.

Take a look at http://bedwettingstore.com/. They have a whole variety of things that would probably help you out. We got a couple of bed overlays for nighttime wetting, and they were very good at keeping the bed dry.

I put my daughter on a folded up beach towel when we went through this.

I also got a 2X4 ish pad that is washable from Walmart. It was in the same section as Depends for adults. We use it on her bed. She's had 2 accidents on it, and I only had to wash the pad --- not the sheets or blankets. (it is put on top of the sheet)

You can find cloth pads just for this at babies r us or target (that may be what you already have). They have also started making pads that stick to the bed sheets, etc. for potty training. I think the Goodnights Brand makes them.
