Hi..
I'm having a lot of trouble with my 6 mos old sleeping in his crib. He will only sleep a few hours on and off all night. He sleeps better in the stroller but wakes up if you stop moving him. I'm thinking maybe he would sleep longer if there was some motion in his crib? Has anyone ever used anything like this? What about a doll or something that vibrates? Any thoughts are appreciated! :) thanks

I'm a big fan of using the swing at night. If you don't want your baby in another room, bring a travel swing (check Craigslist for one) into your bedroom and he'll be close enough to hear if he wakes up.

My little guy sleeps ok in his co-sleeper some nights but other nights he's in the swing for about 6 hours straight. The swing is in the living room so I put a baby monitor next it it so I can hear him if he wakes. It's about the only way I can get more than 3 hours straight at night.

Good luck!

someone had bought me what looked like a vibrating egg that went under the crib mattress, and it had a controller that went on the outside of the crib. It did work, and I wish I could remember who made it. It was made specifically for that reason. The only draw back is that it interferes w/ some moniters, and if it does, the "egg" won't work unless the moniter is off. I know this isn't very helpful, but just wanted to let you know there is a product out there for this :)

The swing worked for my son. He slept in for hours at a time sometimes.

He also has sleeps with me as well. The co-sleeping allows for us both to get a full nights sleep. I know it isn't a choice for everyone, but it works for us. Good luck.

Hello L. W

You may want to try using a small barrel fan; it’s a small enclosed fan so it’s safe. On low the fan will create a steady and comforting hum without affecting the room temperature. Also it always you to still hear your child as he sleeps. The humming will sooth your child through the night.
Room temperature is something you may want to look at as well. As parents we tend to make sure our child is supper covered and the room is warm. As you know your child is just starting to regulate his temperature, so an overly warm room is going to affect his sleeping. This does not mean keep the room cold it is just a simple suggestion to monitor the room’s temperature. You may see a difference even adjusting it by one or two degrees. The best way to be sure what suggestion is affective is to try one at a time. I would suggest the fan first. There are many more suggestions that work but I would start here.

There are books the Happiest baby on th Block and the baby Whisperer if you go down the road you are starting now your baby will only sleep while he is being jiggled, this is not good for anyone. Look into these books, he is not too old to be trained to sleep better, but if you give into the driving him around at night, the dryer (he could fall off) or any high maintenance ideas it will cause you more trouble later on. There is help and these changes can be for the better sleep of everyone. Good Luck

swing works. Try that for 2-4 weeks, and then try the crib again.

There is a thing you can purchase at babiesrus that vibrates the crib and the part that hooks to the top part of the crib has different sounds that you can set it to play. We didn't use that part just the blue night light that is on it because it wasn't very bright and we used a white noise cd instead along w/ the vibrating device for the crib. It really seemed to help Evan a lot.
