Hi Moms

wanted to know if anyone knew of a good place to cut your own christmas tree. My family and I have cut our own tree for 10 years now, but about 4 years ago our tree farm closed and for the life of me I can not find another good place with tall, fat trees. I live in west dearborn but do not mind driving an hour away for a good farm.

What can I do next?

We live in Livonia and have been going to Arend Tree Farm just west of Chelsea for the last 16 years and find their tree selection and prices very reasonable. It is off Kalmbach Road.

There are a bunch of tree farms in the brighton area. My dad bought a HUGE tree from one of them last year. (The tree barely fit through the door, and stood tall enough to brush the ceiling in an open 2 story living room with cathedra; ceilings!) I wish I knew the name of it, but I'd imagine if you checked the internet you could find some information!

Well, the place I know of is in Marshall, Michigan. I used to live there. It's a little more than an hour away. Basically where 1-94 and I-69 cross. It's called Olie's Tree Farm. We used to go there when we bought real trees. They have a horse drawn wagon to take you to the back of the lot and drop you off to look for your tree. They supply the saw. You cut the tree down, bring it to the edge of the lane and they will come back and bring it to the front for you. They will shake out the needles, bind it up, and help load it on the car for you. I remember the price was pretty good too. You can even get hot chocolate and donut holes. They also have wreaths and garland as well. I always enjoyed going.

If you'd like to try it, drive West on I-94 to exit #110. Turn right (North) and turn left on the first road on your left. It's the first road after the gas station (I think G Drive is the name of the road). Anyway, turn left on that road and go straight. You'll go around a big curve and the road turns into 16 1/2 mile. It's just over the hill on the left side of the road. You can't miss it.

Good luck. Merry Christmas.... and Happy THanksgiving too!

We've gotten quite a few trees there over the years and their prices aren't too bad. It's on King Rd. west of Middlebelt.
