Hi! We live in Michigan and we are thinking of taking an overnight trip to Toledo Ohio next week (woo hoo, I know!). We were thinking of taking the kids to the zoo there and just hanging out in the area IF there are other things to do? I tried to find a decent hotel with an OUTDOOR pool that would be close to the zoo. Not having any luck. Any suggestions? Are the other things to do in Toledo? Just thought it would be fun for the kids to do a little hotel stay and also not have to be rushed driving there & back in one day.

What can I do next?

I lived there aboun 6 years ago, so it's hard to remember. There's the Toledo Mudhens, Miami Bay, several putt putt courses. Cedar Point has a great reputation. It's really an all day thing, and it's in Sandusky, which (I think) is an hour and a half drive. Downtown Toledo is not far from the zoo. They usually have family events for the 4th of July weekend. Definitely go to Tony Pacos!

The Imagination Station in Toledo is great! We just visited it last week, and I couldn't get my daughter to leave.

Ringling Bros. circus is coming to Toledo Oct 27 - 30 - use this great discount code to save!!!

My children go crazy over the circus and there’s no better way to see it then with a discount code!! Ringling Bros always does such an awesome job and with the discount I don’t feel guilty in splurging a bit.
Here’s the 411:

It’s the most electrifying edition ever of Ringling Bros. The amazing acts include Tabayara, a dynamic animal trainer who has a rare ability to communicate with animals . The fearless Fernandez Brothers dial up the thrills as they perform daring feats of athleticism on the Twin Turbines of Steel! The Human Fuse, Brian Miser, sets the arena sky ablaze as he rockets through the air from his self-made human crossbow. The hilarious hoopla continues to flow as the clowns from the world-famous Ringling Bros. Clown Alley, charge up the audiences’ funny bones with hysterical silly antics and clownish comedy.

I beleive we stayed at the Wyndam there once or there are a couple of other downtown hotels that are nice. I can't remember an outdoor pool. Also, the COSI museum is fun for kids.

M.,

We go down to Toledo quite a bit as we used to live there and have a lot of fond memories of the area. With kids now, one of the biggest hits has been the zoo (it's a wonderful zoo). We have stayed the night there (not really super close to the zoo) at the Perrysburg French Quarter hotel. It is great for kids, it has a little play center inside with an indoor/outdoor pool. Our kids (at the time ages 2 and 4) really liked it. We have also been to the Chuck E Cheese there and they have a pretty nice McDonald's playland at the Airport Highway exit. The COSI is gone, but I have heard that there is an Imagination Station instead and that it is a lot of fun (although we have not been there yet). And another big hit is catching a Toledo Mud Hens game. Hope this helps... have a great trip!
