I am going to visit my BFF in Charlottesville VA in Aug w/ my 19 mo old DD. She is new to the area and I have never been so I was hoping someone out here would be able to tell me of something extra fun that we can do while out there....besides the usual fun that we can have at home in CT LOL

my DD loves animals of course, babies and really anything girly she is too girly LOL thanks again in advance!

What can I do next?

When we went to visit my little sis in VA, I believe my daughter was like 18. My sis took us to the beach stores, my daughter and I love little shops like that. My sis lived in Portsmouth at the time so we would walk around her neighborhood since it was considered a tourist place. It was so beautiful!! My daughter loved just walking around, standing by a brick wall and the middle of a busy street, etc. all while I took pictures! Pictures came out so nice! Was fun. We also went to a building garage rummage sale, very cool! My daughter is a fashionista and is studying fashion now, she's 21, loved just going to little eccentric shops, so did I. We also ate at a very cute german place (forgot what my sis called it). We also went to Williamsburg, was so very interesting! My daughter said she had a blast and maybe since my little sis is her favorite Aunty, it was even more fun for her too ;)

*since my daughter loves to read and loves books, we also went to a bookstore.

I don't really know that area but we drove through there about 5 years ago and about an hour from there is a town called "Natural Bridge." There was an amazing drive through safari animal park that I would go out of my way to go to again in a heartbeat. All of us adults loved it and still talk about it. My then 18 month old son was in total heaven looking at the animals and at 6 still loves to pull out the photos and ask me all about it. There were also neat walking trails and caverns near there.

Charlottesville is so beautiful and historic. There's a TON to do from visiting UVa to touring Monticello. Both will take a full day.

I grew up in Northern Virginia, had a sister and many high school friends who went to UVa, and still know many people there.

I'd recommend seeing if Charlottesville has a Bureau of Tourism (I can't imagine they don't) and see if they can send you some information.

If you have access to a car, there's a million things to do in the local area from visiting winery's (not good for your LO), to farms, DC is a 2 hour drive, Mannassas Battle Field is ~1 hour away.

VA is so historic and culturally rich, especially C'Ville. You should have no problem keeping your schedule full.
