Has anyone ever been here or heard anything about it? We were thinking about taking the kids, but wanted to hear others thoughts before making the drive to get there.

I agree w/ them all!!! We just went two weeks ago for the first time and LOVED it. So much fun when the animals come up to the car window. I would definitely make the drive again.

Hi C.,

I know you have already received many responses, but I thought I would add one thing. Bring your camera and take lots of pics of all of the different animals. We took our son when he was around 19 months old and he loved it. I took pics of each animal we saw, had them developed, then I put them in a picture album and labeled the animals for my son to flip through. He loved the trip and loves his animal photo album, which we use as a teaching tool (and he doesn't even know it).

Also, I would go early when the park first opens-it is cooler and there aren't as many cars so you can go through at your own pace and not get stuck behind a long line of cars.

You may want to pack a lunch since the Fossil Rim Cafe is pretty expensive. We ate sandwiches as we drove through the park, but there are also picnic tables at the overlook area.

It's a great place to visit. Enjoy!

Nothing but FUN FUN FUN!!! Also, don't miss the Dinosaur Valley State Park. The kids will love it and the grown ups will find it ...well....down right pre-historic!!

It's truly an enchanting place to visit. You'll have a great time.

Hi C.
I've taken my daughter there twice, and we are going back soon so my youngest can experience it. I highly recommend it! The animals are great and you get to see a lot of different kinds. They are very friendly and will come up to the car. The kids can feed them by hand. Have fun!

We haven't been there yet w/ our kids but my husband & I use to go. We love it & plan on going this Fall. It's really best to go when the weather is cooler so the animals will be out & walking around. If it's hot they'll be hiding in the shade.

Plan on going to Dinosaur park too (in Glen Rose). Take your swim shoes & just walk around in the river.

Have Fun!!!

We haven't been in years; but, it used to be one of our favorite things to do when the kids were small. Be sure to try and go when it's cooler as the animals are more active. It's worth the drive.

Hi C.,

I would recommend going - I was taken there by a friend of my mom's when I was younger and I loved it. The main part I remember were some dinosaur tracks in fossilized mud that were big and deep enough to climb down into. I can't remember what kind of dinosuar they were from, but they were huge and one of the toes left a claw mark - pretty cool!

Fossil Rim is awesome, we love it there. We were there with our then 7 mo son in Feb and he loved the animals. We already have reservations to stay there with our son in Dec and Feb. If you love animals, you will love Fossil Rim. Have a great time!

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is fantastic. I would completely suggest going...on a cooler day. My kids loved it. Especially when the giraffe put his head in our sunroof for food. We did not stay the night. We drove home that day. The only problem is we brought our dog with us and dogs are not allowed in the park. So we had to board her for the day.
