Here is my ???? I never know if I should send thank you notes to freinds and family who have given my young children x-mas presents. Or should I call each person and thank them? What is the best thing to do, to let all know how much we appreciate their gifts? thank you! Happy New Year to all.

What can I do next?

Hi C.,
If you need thank you cards please let me know. I have some really great thank you cards for kids. My business is listed in the business section under Good Times Invitations. Thanks

I personally think they're unnecessary. If you're celebrating something like Christmas or a birthday, I never have expected or received, or given for that matter, any thank you cards. I make sure the kids always say thank you for their gifts. I think that's plenty. I would only really expect thank you cards to be given during events that are special and don't come around often, like showers, a special birthday party that was thrown for a special age, weddings, stuff like that.

If the person wasn't there when the gift was opened, you should send a thank- you. A phone call is also acceptable (especially if you're looking for an excuse to chat) but there's nothing like getting a card in the mail, IMHO. Very classy. Plus, you can include some art work or something from your child as part of the card, which is fun.

I think its a nice courtesy to say thank you so I have my kids write thank you notes - its not long its thank you for and I had a good time at the visit or how is their pet? My five year old draws a picture of what he got with who he got it from and writes Thank you on the top. People appreciate the time they take to thank them.

I do one or the other. I bought personalized Thank You cards for my kids. I know that our friends & family have loved receiving them in the past so I try my hardest to get them out in a timely manner. BUT...my life doesn't always go in a timely manner. If I can't mail out my cards by a week/week and a half after Christmas (or the gift-giving) I call. Hope this helps.

You can never go wrong with a thank you note. They are short and take very little time and everyone likes to get real mail once in a while. I like the idea of having your kids do it as soon s they can write, or even dictate what to write to you :)

Depending on the age of your child you can have them write the note, it doesn't need to be very long, or if they aren't old enough they can just write their name on a blank card if they can. In fact, as long as your child can doodle with a pen they can "sign" a card.

A thank you card is great, but if you have the time a call is good too.

Hi C.~
I'm not sure how old your children are. But, I have a 10 month daughter & a 4 yr old son. Beginning this year, I am letting my 4yr old write and send his own thank you cards. There's not much in the cards, but I thought it would be nice having him say "thank you" himself. I haven't yet decided for my daughter if I'll call or do cards, but I thought I'd share my input as to what my son will be doing.
