Hello,

I am 6 weeks, 5 days pregnant and I am searching for a new OB-GYN practice and was wondering if any of you have any experience with the South Miami OB-GYN Associates (Femwell Group Health), particularly Dr. Sureen S. Chi or Dr. Ellen Schwartzbard (separate practice)? These two doctors have been recommended to me quite a bit and I've seen them mentioned a lot elsewhere, so any info would be appreciated if you have gone to them!

I currently have an OB-GYN in Homestead, but I am not 100% set on him, which is why I am looking for other options. Also it would help to know if either accept Medicaid. I am in between jobs and have just applied for Medicaid as my potential job lined up won't have coverage available to me for a few months. I am currently paying out of pocket. I have pretty much gathered that Dr. Ellen Schwartzbard accepts Medicaid, but I am not entirely sure. ANY help is greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

Whatever you do, don't go to anyone that delivers at Kendall Regional. They have a 70% c-section rate!!!! According to NIH and WHO, the c-section rate should be closer to 15% - the state of FL rate is 40% (2nd worst in the nation). Our national rate is 31%.

Good luck, C.

Hi J.G., did you have any luck with these doctors and do they accept medicaid? I'm looking for an ob/gyn in South Miami and would love any advice you can give about who you ended up working with.
Best wishes,
E.R.

Dr. Chi was my OB/GYN for my son and she was wonderful. I have nothing but good things to say about her. She has continued to be my GYN since his birth and she is great as an GYN, as well. Her nurses and office staff are also very nice and responsive.

The other good thing is that she delivers at South Miami Hospital which was a great experience from beginning to end.

I'm not sure if they take Medicaid. You should check as she is a great Dr.

tHAT'S MY GROUP AND I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SEE DR. PAEZ AND IF HE'S UNAVAILABLE I SEE DR. HORST. I DON'T THINK DR. CHI IS THERE ANY MORE THOUGH, AT LEAST I HAVEN'T SEEN HER. BUT YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE VERY PLEASED WITH THEM, I PROMISE. YOU CAN ALSO TRY DR. JAMES HE'S IN KENDALL, THEY HAVE A FEMALE DR. SENEMAR I'VE HEARD SHE'S REALLY GREAT TOO. AND I BELEIVE THAT SHE DOES TAKE MEDICAID. I'M ALMOST CERTAIN THAT SOUTH MIAMI OBGYN ASSOCIATES TAKES MEDICAID AS WELL. AND I LIVE IN HOMESTEAD TOO, HOWEVER I WILL NOT SEE ANY OF THE DOCTORS DOWN HERE BECAUSE THEY'RE USUALLY ONE DR GROUP AND IF HE'S DELIVERING ANOTHER BABY AND YOU GO INTO LABOR, YOUR IN TROUBLE BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT SEE YOUR GENERAL DOCTOR. I'VE BEEN GOING TO SOUTH MIAMI OBGYN ASSOCIATIONS WITH ALL OF MY PREGNANCIES AND EVERYONE THERE IS GREAT!!
