Baptist Hospital on Kendall Drive

I just found out I am pregnant and I don't have an OBGYN. I delivered my last child at baptist and would love to deliver there again. Only problem is that I didn't care for my dr. I would love it if someone could recommend a dr that they used and liked. I am also hoping for a dr with a good Ofc staff since you have to deal with them as well for approx. 8 months as well. I only speak English and it's frustrating when the staff does not. Ok, one final request, I would prefer a vetern doctor that is not fresh out of college, I'm 42 and it weirds me out to have someone so young. I know that with age comes experience and I'd prefer someone with a few years behind them.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi Everyone, thank you so much for all your references. I now have a great many doctors to choose from with a reference as opposed to just drawing a name out of a hat. Thank you again for taking your time to share with me someone who can help make my next 7 months more pleasant.

Larry Spiegelman - he delivered both of my children at Baptist and his office is inside the Baptist Medical Bldg. He is part of a group but all the doctors are truly wonderful. Khomvangsa, Kellogg, Iparaguirre, Monzon

If you are willing to consider South Miami hospital (part of the Baptist network), I would highly recommend my Dr. and the entire practice. Her name is Dr. Sureen Chi at South Miami OB/GYNand she was awesome. I actually met with all of the Dr.'s in the practice at some point during my pregnancy and would have been happy with any of them. Their # is ###-###-####
I was also thrilled with my experience at South Miami Hospital - it was more like a hotel stay than a hospital. The rooms were nice, the staff even nicer. I never wanted for a thing.
Good luck.

I loved Drs. Apollon and Pelaez, both women, both mothers, both in Kendall and delivering at Baptist. Plus a bit more on the alternative side as far as birthing is concerned with great office staff. Congratulations and good luck!

Hello Julliette, my Dr is Dr. Khamvongsa, he is at the Baptist in Kendall and they have around 8 drs. in the group. I can only say good things about him, the office and all the staff. He delivered my baby girl last May and it was a great experience. I was in bed rest for three months and had to go to the office every week, that make me closer to him and to the staff which I bless every day. He is very caring and you feel at home with him. He was the OB head at a Navy Hospital in Washington, and he is around 44 years old. Also since they are a group you can go to the office if needed and if he is not at the office any of the other doctors can see you, they all are very good. Here is the phone ###-###-####, good luck

I love my OBGYNs I went to for pregnancy. They are on Kendall and 97th Ave, right near Baptist. ###-###-####. During Pregnancy you rotate through 5 doctors so you get to know anyone who could be on call when it's your time to deliver and I love all 5 of them. Then for your follow up after pregnancy you just pick one you want to continue with.

I delivered at Baptist and my doctor's affiliated there; what I liked is that his practice is very close to the hospital (87th Ave. & 78 St.), which was convenient and assured that he'd be able to be there ASAP whenever my water broke. My ob/gyn is Dr. Randy Fink ###-###-####), he is super nice, he took a lot of time to help me and fought with the Baptist nurses to allow me to keep trying to deliver naturally, until they realized that my blood had become toxic and it became an absolute emergency to do a c-section. He held my hand, took the time to talk to me and comforted me when he realized I was going nuts over the prospect of having an ugly scar. He is an actor too, which is pretty cool, he has a smooth, calming voice (he was in Streets of Philadelphia for example with Tom Hanks and has done some of the voice overs for National Geographic). His wife is a nurse practitioner and is very nice as well, on some visits where Dr. Fink isn't really required, she may see you just to check that everything is going okay. There are other doctors that share the same office but run their own separate practice, Dr. Glick is one of them, and he is very experienced, though he didn't admit new patients back when I tried getting him, that's how I ended up with Dr. Fink but his mannerisms quickly showed me that Dr. Fink's a very friendly and caring doctor, and is very knowledgeable (he was named one of America's Top Obstetrician/Gynecologists by the Consumer Research Council). I feel lucky to have him and don't regret getting "stuck" with him. Dr. James is there as well, not sure if his father retired or not, and now Dr. Vinueza joined Dr. Fink's practice. He is very nice as well, and bilingual. The staff is bilingual and friendly as well. If you're looking for a female doctor though, there are no females in the practice, except for Dr. Fink's wife, a nurse practitioner like I said. I know some women are uncomfortable around male doctors and prefer a female doctor, which is why I mention this in case this is your situation. If you're interested in reading more about Dr. Fink's practice, they have their own site, http://www.drrandyfink.yourmd.com/home.htm. I live in downtown and am willing to spend the 45 mins. it takes me to get there to get quality, personal care from him and his staff. I used to drive from Hallandale to see him as well, no distance is long enough to get good care. I had tried other doctors at Mt. Sinai which were highly rated and they were not about personal care at all, which is why I liked and stuck with Dr. Fink.

I have delivered all my kids at Baptist and these last two I delivered with the Obstetrics & Gynecology of Kendall - that's the group with Domino, Johnson, Antoun, Leyva, Lopez-Beacham and others that I can't remember at the moment. The office staff is SUPER nice and all speak English WELL. I switched from Salkind because he only did cesearian at the time (not sure if he's even delivering now). You should know that the practice does not support VBAC's and episiotomies. 99% of my girlfriends go to the same practice and I have a very large circle of friends. I also am very aware of the other OB's that deliver at Baptist in case you want someone else's opinion.

Good luck!
