Solicitation

has anyone else noticed the past few days or so that tons and tons of people are getting on here trying to solicit their products or services?????? I mean, I know it is a tough economy and everyone is just trying to provide for their families....but it is clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions that there is no solicitation of any kind....and then when their questions keep getting pulled they try to sneak it in like a question, like we are so dumb we wont know what they are doing....Does this irk anyone else, or am I just being a "Witch"? i can handle the truth....LOL

What can I do next?

Yes. I think 3 solicitations should result in a block of their ip address.

I am not selling anything but you would not be irked right now if you used this product available at ____@____.com

Yeah, what Jess said.
The coffee question just made me laugh-it was too weird.
Yes, I like coffee. No, I don't want to talk to you about it.
Eye roll.
Heehee. ;)

It bugs when people act like they're helping out then they try to hook you in with whatever they're selling. I've seen posts like "Billy won't eat fruit or veggies and I'm really concerned, share ideas on what I can do". Then Susan will chime in and talk about how great these fruit/veggie gummies are and she gives them to her own kids, AND...she sells them too! How convenient ;)

S.H.- of course not you...you're a regular full of great advice! Xo

** My name is "Susan." I don't sell gummy vitamins.
I know you probably didn't mean me. I just wanted to clarify in case.

Eh.

Some are chronic in doing this.
So then that is irritating.

Even for a few seconds of limelight, people will try it. Even for a few seconds of exposure.
That is either tenacity, or just being spammy.
Again, the economy is bad and everyone needs extra money.
Still.
There are rules.

They know.
We do too.

Yes, I have noticed and it irritates me that someone is hiding behind a question to trap someone to get to their website to sell something or recruit them for their team.

There was 1 person inparticular that had 3 separate postings. Who do they think we are? A bunch of idiots? I think not.

UGH, glad I am not the only one and I am sure I will get some hate mail now..

I have answered people's questions and mentioned items that I sell, but I, in no way am trying to solicit sales. I am simply stating the fact that I found something that worked for me and when I found something I loved I joined the company. If I know of something that can help someone and they are asking what can help should I not say something? As I read through other comments there are other people stating other companies of products that they found useful, I don't bash those companies in my reply, I simply state that the product I have is the one that worked great for me and since it is direct sales it can be found on my website easily and sent directly to their home. They never need to buy from me again. I am simply trying to help.

Eh whatever. I try not to get worked up over it. I just move on to the next question. (The coffee question a few days ago I did look to see how much the coffee cost. It was crazy insane cost, and I posted such answer back).

I am the exact same way. I try my best to ignore it. I understand that the economy is tough, but at the same time, we are ALWAYS bombarded with advertisements everywhere (TV, billboards, internet websites, e-mail spam--ads are EVERYWHERE) that I am glad to be able to come to a forum that has rules against solicitations. There is a special place for moms to feature their businesses, and I think that's a great thing; it's also a great thing that they keep it separate from the questions & answers section. Otherwise I probably wouldn't be on here that much (which, actually, might not be a bad thing, either...) :-)

I'm sure this site seems like a ripe place to solicit so you can't blame them for trying. I always report them right away though because it's so flippin annoying. That's the one thing I like about his site, NO COMMERCIALS. Let's keep it that way.

I agree, if it is a legitimate question I don't mind answering it. There was one a while back about not being able to find a base that matched their skin. I had the same issue and pretty much started going without any makeup. Her question was pulled and I felt it was pretty valid.

I never really noticed. I guess these are the posts that I just skip over because they don't sound interesting to me. If I do happen to read one, I wouldn't even think to report it, although I assume it's not allowed. It's not something that bothers me.

Eh...life's too short. I don't really care. I'm not going to go to these websites they post and if someone answers one of my questions with info about their product, I just ignore it.

I think some may be trying to "sneak it in" but I think some people may be too sensitive about it. If you read a question or answer you don't like, move on. Don't respond, just ignore it. No big deal.

What annoys me more is rudeness.
