Skunks Need to Go

Hello, It seems you have gotton some good advice and have tried some good things to get them out. It may be time to use a live trap or have a professional wildlife trapper get them out. You may have already gotten this in other responses. If you use a live trap and don't want them to spray, I have placed old blankets on top of the cage to cover it while transportig the aniaml. I have had success with no sprays this way.

did you call the DNR? 1-888-936-7463. your taxes are already paying for that department, so why not use it? also you want to make sure you are not breaking any laws by trying to poison the skunks because I am guessing fines for that will be very costly financially

Do you have access to all the enter / exit points the skunks do? If so, block ALL the exit points, blocking one with a trap. Eventually they will have to come for the food. However, you need to know what to do with them once you catch them. For that, you'll need to call the DNR. Someone caught one in our neighborhood once and it stunk everything up for days before it finally died in the trap. I don't know if the people who caught it ever called the DNR.

Get a cat, your problem will go away on it's own =)

They are 'wild cats' and are threatened by anything that is threatened by cats, mainly other cats.

I asked my husband, who is a trapper, what he uses for bait and he said sardines. It is a little surprising they haven't gone for the tuna though. For eggs, I think you need the whole egg...not the shell. I think they suck the egg out of a hole they make in the shell. Is there any way you could put a screen on the drain pipe? Also, if you are using a live trap, you may want to cover the trap with a towel or blanket of some type so that when you catch the skunk and try to move it you are less likely to get sprayed. If you do get sprayed...there is a wonderful product called "skunk buster" that will take the smell away completely. Hope this helps.

Try those toilet bowl deoderant crystals (with the wire handle).

Also try the mothball cakes.

If it doesn't work, then I call animal control like the previous post suggested.
