Silk Flowers Dust Free

Place them in a paper bag with a 1/4 cup of salt, close the top of the bag and shake it around. Then just gently shake off any remaining salt and you're done :)

This works like a charm for me. We, too, have lots of silk flowers fom our wedding that I use as decoration around our house. Once or twice a year you just toss them in a large bag with some salt, like a cup maybe, and shake around. Then you shake them upside down to remove all the salt. When all of that is done, spray a bit of static guard on your flower arrangements. It really helps to keep the dust off of them in the first place. :)

I know you can buy a spray "wash" for trees, but I don't know if it works on flowers. I know people who just run a shower over them once in a while.

How about spraying them with a can of canned air, like you use to clean your computer keyboard and things???

I had my wedding bouquet turned into a swag....LOVE the fact I can see it every day instead of just the bouquet just stuck into a vase or something!

Hairspray!!! Believe it or not that's how you keep dust off them and i would clean them at least once a week

Ok here goes I bought a spray at WalMart and it cleans silk flowers perfectly. Just spray it on and hang them up side down in the shower or wherever it worked for me.

Call your local craft store. But I think you can swish them around very gently in mild soapy water. Try Woolite Since they are silk. Test out on one flower.

Most craft stores carry a product that is made for cleaning silk floral products. I can't think of the name right now, but if you check a craft store, they will be able to help you.

Walmart sells a silk flower cleaner that you spray on and let dry - no wiping or rinsing. It works well - but it drips. For large plants I clean them in the garage, small in a sink. The product is in the floral/craft department.
If you don't have a walmart near you, I have also found these cleaners in craft stores. I like the one walmart sells because it doesn't have a toxic smell. If your arrangements are really dirty it might take several applications. Once clean, just use the spray every 6 months.

A florist told me once that the best way to clean silk flowers is to take it outside and blow them off with a hairdrier. The warm air refreshes them and all of the dust will blow off. it is a great way to clean them without spraying them with something!

I use a small, round tip, natural paint brush for small groups of flowers. I have also used the salt in a bag, and it worked great.

I think I saw on one of those Home and garden shows that you can put them in a paper bag with some salt and shake them around and the dust will come off. I use a swiffer duster to clean mine once a week and that seems to work as well.

I use used fabric softener sheets. It really works and if there is still some fragrance on them, it makes them smell good too. Good luck!

I also have silk flowers from my wedding as decoration. Once or twice a year, I take them outside and spray them off lightly with the hose and leave them outside to dry. It takes the dust off quickly without having to wipe each individual leave and petal. We've will have been married 8 years this July and my flowers look as beautiful as the day my mom made them.
