We are going to a Heritage Day at my daughter's school tomorrow morning and having lunch with everyone who attends after the event. We have a Dr. appt and get the first ultrasound today, and will share the news at tomorrow's lunch. I was planning to give out cards that say "Our family is expanding" and having pictures of the two kids and an embryo as the third. I also thought about sharing the picture of the ultrasound. I didnt want to do t-shirts because we are coming from an event (changing, who sees it first, etc) Do any of you creative moms have any other ideas of how we can share the news at a casual lunch with both side of the family?? Thanks for your input.

So What Happened?

So my daughter's Heritage day went great and IF everyone helped to make the family tree, I would have added an apple to the tree so everyone found out, but my in-laws did not help with the class project! So, at lunch I passed out the cards, my in-laws set it aside and we had to convince them to open the envelope. My mom said, "I knew it", my sister cried and my in-laws were in complete shock. Thank you for all the ideas, I think we will have a gender reveal party or wait until the little one is born to find out what we are having!

The cutest one I saw recently was a picture of a pair of shoes for everyone in the family lined up in order of Dad, Mom, and then each child oldest to youngest. then two tiny ones, at the end. In this case these were little girl ones. And then a caption that said, "Our family is growing by 2 feet".
So cute and classy!
Good luck!

We recently went to a friends party for some 'news'. When everyone got there they were informed that the family was moving for work for 5 years, and "oh you should go check out the cake I baked". The cake had 'it's a baby!' on it. Of course they aren't moving. It was hilarious.

I think a picture of the ultrasound is great! Make copies of it into notecards that you fold in half. Give one to each person. The saying inside can be something cute:
And Baby makes 5!
Party of 5!
Making our own basketball team.....Meet player #5!

or-

Bring one of those big clear toy baby bottles filled w/pink or blue jelly beans or little ones to hand out w/everyone w/a little note attached saying: "Get ready to meet our newest bundle of joy"

Fold little pieces of white fabric into flat white-looking diapers w/a note attached on cute paper reading: "Blessed with another member of the family coming soon." or "Coming soon......Number 3!"

Make a screen print of a tree w/3 birds on a tee shirt that says "3 on a tree".

I just saw an announcement someone did, with a construction theme. It had pics of a hard hat and shoes (dad's on one side, mom's on the other, and baby shoes in the middle) It said:

"We are expanding our home by two feet! Construction to be complete by September 2012!

I didn't read the other responses!! But my friend had a cake at her shower, when they cut into it the frosting was going to be either pink or blue! The ultrasound tech wrote the sex of the baby on paper put it in a sealed envelope, then the envelope was given to the bakery!! It was very cool!
