Seeking Non-trendy, Non-pretentious Salon in Gilbert/Chandler Area

Hello fellow mamas! I am in need of a good salon in the Gilbert area; one that is not uber trendy and one that is definitely not pretentious. I enjoy getting the salon experience (i.e., I don't want to do CostCutters and places like that), but don't go on a regular basis (twice a year is good for me) so I feel out of place at most salons I've been to. I would love to find a good stylist who cares about her clients; I want to end my salon-hopping ways. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Wow, thanks to everyone for all of the great suggestions of valley salons. I may have to temporarily increase my salon quota just to try several of them out! : ) Thanks again!

I own a hair salon in Gilbert, Flair! Salon. It's a comfortable, relaxing place to be. We have experienced people, who do quality work, with affordable prices. We offer all spa services and would love to pamper you. I, personally, have been a stylist for 20 years, 10 years in Gilbert. I am versatile in my hair styling. I have many clients who "want the same thing", or change their look every time they come in. I specialize in hair color and like to have the color compliment the cut. If this sounds like it would work for you, please give me a call L. at Flair! Salon, ###-###-####

Hi J., I am a local salon owner in Chandler off of Warner and Arizona Ave. I am NOT one of those corner salons (cost cutters, Fantastic Sams, Snip It's etc). I am a nice neighborhood salon. I have 5 chairs. I am mostly the one that answers the phone, washes, cuts and styles your hair. No need to have assistants do that for me. In my salon we are casual, friendly and down to earth. We are not one of those high dollar you got to dress up to go to salons. Nor are we a chop shop. All my clients are/or become my friends. You are more than welcome to call and make an appointment. Hope to hear from you soon, mention Mama Source and receive a 20% discount. Thanks

Hi J.,

I go to True Essence Salon and Spa It is on the SE corner of Cooper and Warner in Gilbert(next to Uncle Bear's). It's looks nice inside, but is not pretentious. I'm like you - I only go a few times a year. The hairstylist I see is Ashley, and she does a really good job. I have always liked the results. She only works a few days a week. I'm sure the other stylists are just as good. Good luck! Oh - phone number is ###-###-####. Address is 825 S. Cooper Rd, Suite B3/B4. Website is trueessencesalon.com

HI J.,
I use Phyllis McClure at the JC Penney SAlon at the Superstition Springs Mall. I do not know anything about you at all, but when I originally called to get the appointment (about 2 years ago), I explained I am over 40 and like a conservative 'normal ' cut. I do not wish to be styled by someone with purple hair or who changes her style every week. They gave me Phyllis who is very stylish but also very understaning. She does my hair and will suggest, to styleit a certain way. I like my way but when I do what she suggests I ALWAYS get compliments. Good luck!

Hi J.- I have been seeing the same stylist at Regis Hair Salon at Chandler Mall. I am pretty picky and she has done well everytime I go in. I also don't go very often. I go every 3-4 months. Sometimes longer. I know you're in Gilbert, but if you only go occasionally it might be something to do when you make a trip to that mall. Her name is M. Comesano. She is in her early 20's, but very relaxed and a mama too. She's easy to talk to and just all around friendly. When I go in, it usually cost around $30. Not sure what your cost range is, but it's always nice to just find someone you trust for your hair.

I have the perfect person for you. Her name is Tammy and she rents a small space inside a building (can't remember the name of the building right now) but she only works with one other person. She is very sweet, down to earth and does fantastic hair. I get compliments from tons of people. I got her number from someone who I thought had adorable hair. Now, she does hair for everyone I know. The name of her business is Trinity Salon, 3479 E Baseline Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234 (corner of Val Vista and Baseline) ###-###-####. Leave a message and she will call you back for an appointment. Also, when she washes your hair, she massages your head. It is the most relaxing thing! I could go to her weekly for that, if I could afford it.

I really like Epic Salon on Gilbert Rd and Queen Creek. There is an add and a coupon in the Go Gilbert! magazine for 30% off services and products. Ask for Allie. She is great! I have been really happy with both the color and cut she has done.

Hi J.,

I have a great salon in mind for you. I have been going to Selah Salon in Gilbert for a few years now and I absolutely love it! I get my hair done by the owner, Renee Ayala, and she is fantastic. She does exactly what you want (not like some stylists that just start cutting). She is great at offering suggestions if you are looking for something new. I feel very comfortable with the way Renee responds to my likes and dislikes. The salon was recently redecorated and has a very warm feeling. The entire staff is very friendly! Scheduling is easy also. You can even schedule your appointment online. Prices are very reasonable. The salon is located on Gilbert Rd. between Guadalupe and Elliot. The website is SelahSalonAZ.com and phone number is ###-###-####.

Hi. My mom owns her own shop and she's been doing hair for over 30 years. She's really good and not snobby at all. Her shop is called Carmen's Hair Artistry and it's located on the NE corner of Alma School and Ray Rd. Her prices are very reasonable and she always makes sure her customer is happy. Her number is ###-###-#### and she is open Wednesdays through Saturdays. I hope this helps.

Salon XS on Val Vista and Williams Field, just south of Sprouts...It is a WONDERFUL salon...you can even get a massage in your chair while your hair is being colored, drying, perming, whatever. They offer everything a high end salon/spa offers, but with much more reasonable prices. They have a little cafe and coffees galore to enhance your salon experience. It is more expensive, obviously, than Cost Cutters, but well worth it, especially if you are only planning on going a couple of times per year.###-###-####. Enjoy!! My next appointment is April 11th; maybe I will see you there!
